A 12 year old spit on me yesterday

So I'm backing out of my driveway yesterday, the weather is nice, so I have my windows down, and as I get into the street, I hear a squeaky voice say "watch out dumbass!" I guess he was right in my blind spot because I checked my mirrors several times
I quickly lean out the window to see a kid dressed in all black holding a skateboard. I say "so sorry man, just didn't see you", he then runs up to my window, spits at me, and says "watch out dumbass or I'm going to kick your arse mother fricker!"
I had absolutely no idea what to do with that, so I just laughed and told him to stay out of the street.
Did I get punked by a 12 year old? Should I have beat his arse? What the frick do you do in that situation?

Despite the usual OT comments that are sure to follow, beating a kid for being a little tPOS is never the answer because you'd end up in jail. I'd have laughed too and then said some choice words. Like "Did you know spitting on people is assault? And I can send your loser as to jail where you will learn just how tough you aren't? Stay out of the street because I'm done checking mirrors." And rolled on.

I would have called the cops and said I saw someone suspicious peeking in my neighbors window and given a description of what he was wearing.

really nothing you can do at that point except maybe hold him there and call police if you want to go through that trouble

I genuinely felt bad that I almost hit the kid, so I wanted to really apologize, but once he came at me like that I just couldn't help but think "frick this kid, probably should have hit him"
