Both had about the same population and had about the same % of houses flooded, yet only one is known world-wide for the disaster and received around the clock news coverage.

When is Spike Lee going to make a docu about the flooding of DS?

You can't be dumb enough to think the events are comparable.

10k population that lost about 90% of their housing? Yeah. I think it's pretty comparable.

Depends, what are the demographics of DH?

That's exactly the point.

Let me break it down to you dumb fricks.

New Orleans is a major American city and the sorrunding areas of BR are forgetful.

It took 5 days for rescue effort in some areas to start. This flood had help immediately.

Katrina flood water sat for a long damm time. BR flood water went down within 2-3 days.

After Katrina people couldn't go back to their homes for at least 4 months. People are returning to their homes now.

The death toll in N.O. for Katrina was in the thousands while this flood was in the 10's.

A city who's population was around a half of million was a ghost town for years. When only certain areas of BR were destroyed.

I'm not trying to discredit what you guys are going through but there is a reason N.O. had so much attention it was the worst natural disaster in US history. While small towns get flooded all the time.

This flood is more comparable to what happened in Laplace a few years back.

Was the Denham Springs flooding attached to the costliest natural disaster in the planet's history and deadliest natural disaster in the U.S. since the 1920s? Was the death toll remotely similar in the 2 events? Is Denham Springs going to still be under weeks after the event like the ninth ward?

Did Spike Lee's documentary really help out the black people you are talking about?

You are making a bad comparison. You are kind of jumping ahead right now. Who is to say someone won't make a documentary about this disaster?

In this day during the Katrina event, you couldn't even enter the city without a military or contractor clearance.

Today I went and moved my cousin into a dorm at lsu, had lunch at digiulios, went to home Depot to get shite for the dorm and my house, and went and had fuzzys tacos and some margaritas.

6 days into Katrina, we kind of sneaked into the city at a military check point with a relatives work Truck while all of us were instructed to have weapons at all times by said military. We were told by them that it was imperative to get out of the city at dark because our AK and 3 pistols weren't much of shite

So yea. Dumb thread

The tax revenue that these "small towns" bring in are the only reasons places like the 9th Ward and their residents even exist.

This is complete BS and you know it.

Katrina flood water sat for a long damm time. BR flood water went down within 2-3 days.

While false, does it really matter?

quote:

After Katrina people couldn't go back to their homes for at least 4 months. People are returning to their homes now.

More BS. There are people still not able to return to their home. NOLA was dry 2 weeks after Katrina and a week after RIta.

quote:

The death toll in N.O. for Katrina was in the thousands while this flood was in the 10's

Yet they still had a longer warning.

quote:

A city who's population was around a half of million was a ghost town for years. When only certain areas of BR were destroyed.

I went to NOLA in early October 2005. The only ghostowns where Lakeview and 9th Ward. This brings me back to my first point in the OP. Why do the moochers in the 9th get all the coverage when the contributes in Lakeview only get a passing minute?

Well excuse the frick out of me who actually lived through it. I think I know more than your visit. My home was flooded and we were not able to go back till December. The city was letting people back in one zip code at a time. How is it BS that it took 5 days it was well documented. Also after Katrina in 2007 New Orleans was empty. I lived here you had maybe 2-3 people living on each block. It was pitch black at night with no street lights and only a handful of stores were open.

I'm not following your racist thread here.

Just come out and say what you are thinking.

Do you think the Govt isn't going to help the people in need around here?

All I see nonstop is citizens, police, state troopers, national Guard, and everyone else under the sun lending a helping hand. Let's not turn this into a race cry fest.

You left out the part where the people of the NOLA area had adequate notice to evacuate. While the magnitude of Katrina wasn't foreseen NO ONE in their right minds would have thought that the recent floods would have been what they wound up being.

Baton Rouge metro area isn't exactly a small town

It's along the lines of the numbnuts finding validity in complaining about Deray not captaining a rescue boat. It ain't his charter, and this ain't a defense of BLM. It's just the facts.

We lived in unofficial martial law for years. We as a city was stuck under curfew. The national guard policed the streets with Humvee's and M-16s. It was shot on site in some areas if you were caught out at night. Meanwhile most of BR hasn't skipped a beat so it's totally the same.

Not everyone could afford to leave. Also when you leave 2-3 times every year for hurricane you decide to stay sometimes.

And the entire .etro area didn't get flooded

Valid points

And I think it's pretty easy to prove that Katrina was bigger in scale.

A better comparison might be Sandy

Really this race baiting thing on both sides in times like these in La. is pretty ridiculous.

So many of folks have gone under for now, and others may still.

Dredging up this kind of muck isn't helping.
