I caught the tail end of an interview w/ the Cantor Fitzgerald CEO yesterday. His brother died in the attacks. His sister had an appointment off site, so she lived. He was dropping his kid off at his first day of Kindergarten, so he was late for work and lived.

He said they did a conference call with the surviving employees in the days after the attacks. He was willing to shut the business down, if that's what the survivors wanted. Or they could run the business and donate a large share of profits to the families of those killed. The business carried on.

He also mentioned that there ~20 employee funerals a day for over a month. He also said any child who had a parent killed in the attacks who wants a job at CantorFitzgerald gets a job someplace in the firm.

I had a couple week old newborn. I remember sitting with watching TV and thinking that he was going to experience a much different world.

I still can't watch anything about 9/11 without feeling like I'm dying on the inside. I just hope there really is a hell so those bastards can suffer for what they did.

Found myself thinking about the child of that guy there other day and wondered if anyone has interviewed that little kid as a now adult. Has to be some strange feelings knowing you saved your dad's life.

Exact same thing with my kid even though he was a couple of months old. We've been at war his whole life.

Watching the nbc coverage live on MSNBC. One of the first things they mention is they called someone at Canton and asked them what's going on. The person who answered said "were fricking dying in here" and hung up
