Why not just download an emulator for free and all the ROMS(games) for free?

Bc it wouldn't be the same. I already have a Wii with some classic games but it just isn't the same. Maybe it's nostalgia. I know it's dumb.

For me it was definitely nostalgia. I know I can play these games on my pc. But it fun to have a little nes.

Also, many parents buying this for themselves or their kids have no idea how to emulate old games.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

8 pages and no reports of actual experiences from the ones that got them. I need to know more about the cable lengths and av connections.

It uses a USB to microUSB cable to power the unit. It connects to the TV by hdmi only. Power cable, wall plug and a hdmi cable are included. Both cables are about 5ft. You can use any similar usb cable that is longer if you need. Same for the hdmi.

Controller cable are 3 ft. Cable extension cords are available and aftermarket wireless controllers.

It is somewhat optimal to sit near the unit while playing. To return to the main selection screen (to play a different game, or save the game you are playing) you must press the "reset" button in the console. So you can sit with it close to you or get up each time to change games/save.

Most of those reviews seem to be from people pissed that they couldn't get one.

Nintendo always seems to pull this shite. Short supply on high demand items. I will eventually get one but for now I'm getting the retro but generations console. 90 games instead of 30. More of a developer platform instead of console base. Lot of old capcom games

I want this badly but I think Nintendo really fricked up by not making the controllers wireless.

Apparently Nintendo did not consider that millions of people hang their flat screen TVs on walls which will make it extremely difficult to play.

SEGA is selling a similar game console with over 30 SEGA games including all the Mortal Combats, Sonic the Hedgehog, etc. and they made their controllers wireless. It's selling for $39.

I may purchase that and then wait until after Christmas to get the Nintendo Classic.

I only want the Nintendo Classic to play Castlevania anyhow...

Maybe this was a test to see if they would sell.

May re-launch after feedback and update the options?

I was on Amazon's site 15 minutes before 4PM yesterday ready to go. At 3:59 I started quickly refreshing to see if an available Nintendo surfaced. At 4:01 PM, an available Nintendo Classic appeared and I clicked on it. The moment I clicked on it I received an error that the item was no longer available. This actually happened twice.

Rampant error messages or just empty pages.

Buying experience sucked worse than trying to purchase Tool tickets.

Well you have every motherfricker trying to get one so they can throw it on eBay around Christmas.

I'm thinking..maybe they will put the system into development with a large internal hard drive that could possibly hold every nes game. Wireless option. Etc.

I'd buy that for $250-$300

I like to hope that.

Same with super nes.

Because so many people are Pissed off that they didn't get one, it was a launch success.

That's a good deal but I'm just not as attached to Segas games. Atari has a similar thing too.

I went to a Game Stop yesterday morning. Stood in line for about 30 minutes with 8 people in front of me. Normally I would never do that, but I was off work yesterday so I thought, "Why not?"

The question was: How many consoles did Game Stop receive in their midnight shipment?

What we knew was 1 shipment equaled 6 consoles. Some Walmarts indicated they only received 1 shipment. However, the local Target told the news they received 25 consoles.

How many had Game Stop received overnight? None of us were sure, but I figured I would stand in line as the 9th person in line until they opened because perhaps Game Stop received 2 shipments which equaled 12 consoles. If so, I would get one!

A worker arrived. It was chilly outside so the worker told us he would count how many consoles they received and let us know. After about 15 minutes, he came outside and said this:

"We received 4 Nintendo Classic consoles and none of them have controllers. I'm very sorry."

What...the...frick? No controllers. I thought each console came with one controller.

That's when I said frick it, laughed, and went home.

Article from about an hour ago

quote:

Nintendo, for its part, is promising more stock before the holidays. The company tweeted this yesterday once it became clear that only a miniscule portion of the people that wanted the Mini NES actually got one: “The Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition system is a hot item, and we are working hard to keep up with consumer demand. There will be a steady flow of additional systems through the holiday shopping season and into the new year.”
