Good points. But I do most of those things myself. Personally, I would spend a ton if I was fully off work 4 days a week. The average American? You might be right.

I basically make my own hours though and am working towards not going to the office at all in the near future. So I don't have much of an argument for or against a standard work week.

yes, but he also thinks you should work until you are 75 years old...

I kinda agree with this as well. Most of the patients I see in their 70s that are still working look and act much younger than their retired counterparts. Now this could be a chicken vs egg scenario dealing with why they are more vibrant/still working but I tend to think it's because they have yet to truly go into the end of life mode that others seem to once they retire(all personal observation from years working with afults) . Hell I'd much rather have more time off when I'm younger, stronger, and able to do all the physically demanding activities I'd like to do. You'd also get more time with your kids as they grow. The idea of the 65-70 retirement after working 40 hr weeks to Kay around and do geriatric things isn't appealing at all to me.

I have no problem with this line of thought. You work to live, you don't live to work. The 5 day 40 hour work week is absurd and is just an arbitrary number that has become the standard. IMO giving someone a specified time to work, as opposed to a specified goal is counterproductive (this of course doesn't include shift workers or low skilled workers who are simply used as a body).

Spending roughly 1/3 or more of your waking hours at work is a pretty shitty life IMO.

Also, my ideal job is working 4 10 hour shifts Mon-Thur. I feel like Fridays are the most wasteful workday of the week. If people aren't taking off or calling in, they're at their desk miserable waiting on the weekend

People would just start doing that on Thursdays.

My old job, we worked 9-80's. Had every other Friday off, Thursdays were just another day. What was worthless was when we left that schedule and worked 4 hours every Friday. Nobody did shite on those Fridays. It just forced people out of bed for no reason.

Of coarse he does. He doesn't want anyone else to be rich.

I'm on 12's for 5days and 2days alternating. I usually like to switch up to 3 and 4 if my schedule allows.

It would be hard for me to go back to 5 days in a row every week.

I could never go to a m-f;9-5 type schedule.

Only off 2 days a week? F that!

I would actually have to use my vacation time if I wanted a bunch of days off in a row.

Easy for him to say. I doubt if he worked 3 days per week in amassing his fortune.

I doubt the CEO of a company has to check with the shareholders every time he wants to make a decision.

For decisions that have a major impact on operations, a CEO absolutely has to be sure the other major shareholders will go along.

Besides, for most of the companies Slim is involved in, he's a board member and is not CEO.
