If you're making a payment and plan to keep it, the difference in interest rate can make up for the depreciation.

Just when i pointed it out, Dave Ramsey had to post in this thread.

Depreciation numbers have changed in the last 5 years. Most charts on depreciation are based off of MSRP as the purchase price, which hopefully never happens.

I think you are confusing being “upside down” with depreciation

If one prefers to buy used that’s completely fine, but I’ve never understood shitting on other peoples purchases. As if the only way to get rich is to buy used vehicles cash.

It just gets you from point A to B is equal to saying a home is just a place to sleep, eat and shite.

Agreed. I was laughing at the timing of the point A to B response guy. Just after multiple pages without it (which is rare on the OT).

Subaru Outback, Forester, or Ascent. 25 MPG in the Ascent with the third row or about 32 MPG in the two smaller ones. Run from about 24-45,000 depending on the trim last I looked. Touring model is top of the line. Standard all wheel drive, one of the best crash ratings, and resale values in the industry. Only if you’re a lesbian though.

After the bitch I tapped doing 3 mph in stop and go traffic on an on ramp to the bridge in my Acura, I’ll never drive another “luxury” brand vehicle. She jumped out holding her neck and called her husband. Their first question was “what kind of car is this”. Accident report where it was noted there was 0 damage and Dudley debosier got her $27k.

But I am in the market for a new SUV, so I’m off to research the OT suggestions I haven’t considered.

Not sure you will find any new midsized that aren’t bare trim for under $50k

Telluride and Palisade both will have top level trims just below $50k

Or you could have enough in cash to buy for a safe, used car. ?????

You’re clearly not financially savvy if you think paying cash for a car is smarter than borrowing at 0-2% interest and using the cash to invest elsewhere.

GTFO Dave Ramsey, you bankrupt looney tune.

Of course there can be brand new lemons, but we just inherited the previous owner’s problems with the few used cars we have bought over the years.
