I never thought I'd arrive at this calculation and not be trolling but that's the equivalent of $2.88/hr raise

1. When was your last raise? You may be due one.
2. If they asked you to move, you'd think some sort of compensation would be coming.
3. That's not ridiculous money for drafting if you are good. When I left that position I was at $28 seven years ago.
Good luck.

But it's also shittier, it would take more than a 10k raise for me to move from New Orleans to Baton Rouge.

(did I do this right?)

We get them yearly at 0 to 3% plus a variable team-share/lump sum from 0 to 7% based on performance measures. The union get a guaranteed 3% plus time and a half for OT. Move would be of my own doing to fill a spot opened up by a transfer. Perks of union are a plus but without a base pay increase it doesn't seem worth it.

talk with someone in HR.

See if you can figure out if some people are getting moving expenses.

Not getting it for sure, just looking for opinions. I've been underpaid from the start so I am trying to make this move worth it. They're paying a contact employee 32 an hour for doing half the work. He's only doing acad work for one area. Of course the contract company takes care of his benefits though. I'm content and secure where I am but I can't let an opportunity pass without examination.
