These are just kids who are victims of poverty. Some midnight basketball could help.

I suggest an apartment in Rankin county and an enhanced concealed carry permit....and a crappy car that nobody else would want.

In order for crime to be reduced in Jackson, they need a good police force (which given what they are dealing with, JPD is actually pretty good), good prosecutors (Jxn has a horrible DA and prosecutors office) and good judges (Jxn consistently has the worst judges in the country - especially at the circuit court level excluding Jeff Weill).

I don't know that the crime is increasing in Jackson. However, I think it is undeniable that crime is spreading into the last remaining areas of the city that are decent. Not ironically, these areas also contain the last remaining tax base in the city as well (Belhaven, Fondren, Eastover and Heatherton area).

Jackson, in short, is entering the death rattle stage for a city. It will look very, very similar to a mini-Detroit in the next 5-10 years. Already does in many respects.

Most med students I encounter prefer to stay close to UMC. It may have to do with their scheduling/residency/on-call/I have no clue.
