I know I could do one. I prefer not to. I'd get too bored after about mile ten. I'd rather just flip tires sled work for cardio. But for most people a marathon is a huge accomplishment. I forget the ot is full of doctors end elite athletes who hav an ego the size of john holmes

Both. These are almost as bad as the stick people family stickers. Nobody gives a shite how big your family is or how far you have run.

The mental aspect is part of what makes a marathon and endurance sports hard.

Saying you could do it, except for the mental part is really only saying you don't have the mental makeup to do it.

no sticker

don't hate on them either
Like 4444 said, most people do because they feel part of that community.

If someone has a Boston Marathon sticker where you have to have a serious time to qualify that is something different.
Most people who have the BM sticker, get it because they got in through a charity. FWIW.

I understand this. I got shite for my thread Sunday, and my time wasn't anything spectacular. But if you'd of told me in January "Prez you're going to complete a half marathon before the end of the year" I wouldn't have believed you. Hell, the first time i ran 10 miles i was shocked. I didn't think it was possible for me to do it.

I've got the bug now. Now I know I can do it, so I want to get better/faster.

I'm still not getting a sticker, but I don't begrudge people that do.

When I was fat, the first time I ran 5 miles I took off work that day.

And the next.

I see nothing wrong with someone for being proud that they have completed a marathon. The 13.1 stickers make me laugh though.

They should make a 26.3 for the one-upper troll in all of us.

Or because that's how far people end up running in marathons. I've run 27 miles before because the course is so crowded and there are a ton a turns you can't cut off.

Completing is not a big accomplishment

and I disagree

while almost anyone could probably complete a marathon, it is still an accomplishment that they committed themselves to completing

committing yourself to propel yourself forward for 26.2 miles is an accomplishment

I hear you and I edited again.
I should probably look at thing that way more.
I tend to be unimpressed with myself.

I ran almost 7 in the Crescent City Classic this year.

Not that its some big accomplishment, but running almost an extra mile to complete a 10K is mind boggling. The bus situation was pretty slow and I got there after the soccer moms and strollers had already left. My path on the Nike + app for the first 2 miles looked interesting.

This is the 1.1 mile sticker they give out at a local beer festival 1.1 mile race. I need to do it just to get the sticker.

For the people who typically sport those stickers on their vehicles, yes. But the individuals who finish in the top 1% of such races are typically several notches above a 'jogging' pace.

Don't kid yourself. Most of them didn't run or even "jog". You can walk most marathons and not get swept up.
