Our 35lb bag of Pro Plan, chicken and rice, is about the same price. Last usually a month and a half. Use to pay about 30-40 bucks for it 10 years ago.

Got two straight bags of Pro Plan that were mostly air puffs and no kibble. Was done with them after that.

It's amazing you people still feed your dogs that crap

I think it's only the grain free options that may have issues, and it's multiple brands of grain free food.

Correct. It's the grain free, not the brand.

Yup. It’s not specific to brands. It’s grain free in general

I get my dogs a crap protein first did. Then I make a supplement for from chicken and beef and oatmeal and sweet potatoes. I mix that and the dry foods and top with broth I make from left over chicken. They wolf it down.

The increase in shipping costs for an item of that weight is a major factor in the price increase.

Roughly 50% increase since December 2019. Before taxes, low point was $43.19 per bag in May 2020 and the high point was the most recent purchase this week at $64.78.

After listening to our wonderful "leader", it's apparently only an inch.

and from what i had read their isnt any actual evidence grain free is better for your dog. I had a many discussions with my vet about tis over the years and she said she has done a ton of research. And there is no data showing it does better.

We have 4 dogs, and we have started cooking homemade dog food. We get frozen chicken, green beans, carrots, pumpkin, and white rice. We make batches every week in a Instapot and it has saved a good bit of money compared to bagged food

Our vet recently recommended some specialty weight loss foods for one of our Daschunds, we looked it up...A 17lb bag was $110

Had to cut some weight off our lab. Reduced dry food and added green beans. He's lost the weight and loves the stuff.

Also, try baby carrots for treats instead of dog biscuits. Both our dogs love 'em.

You’ve been overpaying for dog food for decades. Dog food is mostly similar to poultry, swine and cattle feed. Those run about $300 a ton. Your dog food is $5900 a ton

Stick with Purina—from personal and veterinary expertise, it is solid. We actually switched our dogs’ food from Purina to Costco brand a year ago, and there have been zero issues. Saved tons of $$$ as well.

The only issues from not using those would be allergies/intolerance. I’m thankful that mine have been good with it.

Maybe he has 4 St. Bernards and you have 9 chihuahuas?

But yes, dog food prices have me reconsidering just meal prepping for them. It's probably better for them anyway.

I’m always amazed how many people smoke salmon for their dogs here. Couple dogs here eat salmon or moose probably 80% of the time.

We have to get Hills r/d for a few months. A 27.5 bag is 100 bucks on PetRX.

The rest get Victor. It's made in Longview and they love it. 50 bucks for 50 lb bag
