24-lb Bag of Dog Food = $71.23 After Taxes

Good Lord. I know we all are feeling the sting of inflation, but I was looking at our Amazon account this morning. My wife ordered dog food earlier this week and it was $71.23 for the 24-lb of Blue Buffalo Wilderness High Protein dog food. Been using this same dog food for years, so I dug through the Amazon account quickly to see past orders.
Like a good nerd, I put the data into a spreadsheet and graphed it.
Roughly 50% increase since December 2019. Before taxes, low point was $43.19 per bag in May 2020 and the high point was the most recent purchase this week at $64.78.
UPDATED AS OF 10/10/2023
About a year later, and now the same doogfood has gone from $64.78 to $79.99. That's a little over 23% in the past year.
I also went back as far as my Amazon purchase history would show to look at the price trends before inflation went crazy. The price stayed fairly flat from mid 2018 through around mid 2021, then it went nuts.

It’s cheaper to just feed your dog a free range Vegan instead.

And your dog has no clue what you do to honor him lol. Seriously, you have a good heart for spending your hard earned money on your best friend.

That's $2.96/lb.
Check Costco meat dept. for a better option. Maybe ox tail?

That expensive arse food has never been $43. You probably had some promotions or big discounts if you got it that cheap.
Don’t bitch about you voluntarily buying one of the most expensive dog foods on the market.

Blue buffalo is overpriced and bad for your dog
ETA: I get a 44 pound bag of Purina One for $50 at Sam’s. Lasted my Dachshunds 2 months so far and going

Our vet recently recommended some specialty weight loss foods for one of our Daschunds, we looked it up...A 17lb bag was $110
Needless to say, we didn't go that route.

I don't order fertilizer on Amazon. But we could look at stock prices of CF Industries and Nutrien.

Try being a foster to multiple litters of cats and dogs.
It's wiping us out.
8% inflation, my arse.

Posted this in a similar thread but I noticed the bin I pour my food into wasn’t nearly as full as normal. Looked at the bag and realized they had quietly gone from 25 pound bags to 22 pound bags but also gone up in price. shite made me irrationally mad

Get your pooch Alpo in a can.....he probably likes it more and the price is not nearly as inflated as Blue Buffalo is from the jump.
