People on here like to shite about NOPD, what can NOPD really do about these people who don't give the least shite about murdering, stealing, raping, etc? Prison isn't a punishment to them.

these little thugs were only 7 years old when Katrina hit...and the parents were probably 16...it's likely they haven't seen their parents in 9 years.

All things considered I think NOPD does a good job of catching the bad guys. The judges just let them off the hook. We need tougher punishment.

Obviously by the time they've gotten to that level of don't-give-a-f*ck it's too late.

I will say what NOPD CAN do is stop driving by the roaming packs of 7-12 year olds, walking down the middle of the neighborhood streets at 11:30am on a school day.

There are truancy laws. Round these kids up, find out who their parents are, and lay into their lazy no-child-rearing asses.

Worse, they don't care about their own. They don't care if they have to go to prison because they get three free meals a day and they know half the inmates, anyways.

It matters not they don't care about their own lives, it matters more they don't care about others

If they at least cared about their own lives then the prospect of going to jail would be a deterrence. As it is, they just brazenly do whatever destructive shite that occurs to them without a care.

I started a thread about capital punishment for crimes like these and got berated. Guns in our society are a problem, but it is a problem that can't be easily fixed. the best way to address crap like this is to fight fire with fire. They should be hang in public so that everyone can see and show that the rest of us are not going to put up with this crap.

I'm just saying, if they don't value their own life how can they possibly value others? It all starts at home and most of them have never had one.

I don't care if it deters others or not. its about punishing them in the most violent way possible so they pay for what they have done and they can no longer hurt anyone or have one second of enjoyment again.

I don't think their parents had them when they were 9 years old.

They might not have seen their parents since the storm. Most likely they are living with a grandmother or an aunt.

I'm sorry, what was controversial about what he said? There's a 90 percent chance those 'kids' have no relationships with their fathers because they are dead/imprisoned/missing

"Public hangings should be brought back."

"Agree, they can even make festivals out of them. Sell beer and food tickets, have live music. Win win"

As terrible as it sounds, this might be the only way to actually deter crime in the city. The problem with these kids is that they only think about right now and never give a thought about tomorrow. Hang a few of them/put a bullet in their head in the middle of the neighborhood and they might get the message. People with no respect for human life don't deserve to live themselves.

You mean legally, or on/by the streets? Cause there's a huge difference
