I heard her and her mom were arguing about her grades and she stormed out the house and her mom got in the car to go find her soon after.

She was struck about 50 feet from her driveway. Mom's Jeep couldn't have gained enough speed to be much of a factor.

More importantly, getting back to Mom being left to walk home - 50 ft. people, 50 ft. Not very far to walk home. Hardly worth getting in a cop car.

So much for rumors and bullsh!t Buttbook posters.

16 yr old French Settlement girl dies after being struck by 2 vehicles
Article says the girl's name hasn't been released pending notification of next of kin. Makes no sense that her mother was present.

they allow one person to ride along. I would fully expect mom to have ridden along OR to have someone drive her to the hospital immediately.

They CAN allow one person to ride along at the medic's discretion. They don't allow people to ride in the back anymore unless its a very young child. Especially in this case they would have a firefighter, or second medic on scene, or both ride in the back to assist with CPR etc. Protocol says not to transport unless you have a pulse, so that would have you think she was alive when they left, but protocol also says patients under 18 get transported regardless of a pulse. Either way the mother riding would be at the discretion of the crew, and if she even wanted to ride with the ambulance in the first place (due to being distraught).

eta: clarified for those dumbasses who don't have comprehension skills. treatment is not withheld, full treatment is given, just like they would get in the ER. but its all done on scene. you do everything you can, call the doc, and he either calls it or tells you to come in. The only difference between minors and adults is that minors usually get transported to the hospital rather than working on scene or calling the coroner, but it all depends on the situation.

Dear God

Mom is going to need major support from friends and family.

If this happened to me and I hit my son, the desire to live would be hard.

There are several things mentioned on here that are speculation and are not true. This family has been thru hell. This is the second huge tragedy in Several years. She was hit by both vehicles in front of another family members house. One house down from hers. She passed in that family members arms.
That family member is a close personal friend of mine and what they need is a lot of prayers. Yes, this poor Mother will need a lot of support and help. Imagine the last words you said to your child were in an argument and/or punishment and 2 minutes later their gone. I can't even fathom the pain she is feeling.
For some reason people feel they have to root out all the gory details. Put yourself in that Mothers shoes.
Please have respect for the family and pray for them and pray you are never in that situation.

This is the stupidest shite I've heard in a long time. Under 18 no pulse gets life saving measures but over 18 doesn'? If there is such a protocol it opens the company up for a lawsuit.

I was a street medic for many years. The only reasons you would withhold treatment would be an obviously mortal wound, rigor, lividity, do not resuscitate orders. A person's age has nothing to do with if they are treated or not. Also people without a pulse can be saved with frontline cardiac drugs and cpr. If I had to guess you are an emt basic with a volunteer fire dept. Stop posting stupid information.
