She was picked on for her "crooked" post-surgery smile, among other things

An 11-year-old Ohio girl who had overcome brain cancer as a toddler fatally shot herself after being subjected to “relentless” bullying for more than a year, her family and officials said.

Bethany Thompson, a sixth-grader at Triad Middle School, took her own life on Oct. 19 after being tormented by a group of boys at school and enduring insults about her “crooked smile,” according to her mother, Wendy Feucht.

FYI it was a big thread on here the other day.

Terrible what that kid went through. Kids raised poorly and pick on a kid for that are fricking trash.

Bullying is a huge problem. I really think parents and authorities need to get more involved. Stories like this break my heart.

That isn't just bullying or picking on somebody imho. My dad would've beat me senseless for making fun of someone with a physical disability or whatever.

I raised my kids to only make fun of people with step parents or mixed race.

Young kids doing the bullying don't realize what they're doing. That's terrible.

I am not sure at what age you start blaming the bully, but this should also be put on those kids parents. Some kids do it out of peer pressure, but 11 year old kids should know better than to relentlessly bully this poor girl.

The bullies and their parents should be publicly outed and shamed, and given a taste of their own medicine by people all over the world.

(Just make absolutely sure it's the right people.)

I know this was already discussed here, but just to reiterate, there are all kinds of fricked up things going on in this story. Outside of the main story and tragedy, two other things stand out:

A) The bullying itself seems to be a bigger problem at this school than normal. A 12 year old student committed suicide due to bullying 4 years ago.

B) For frick's sake people, lock up your firearms with kids around this age and younger in the home. Spare me the shite about hunting on your own at this age or how she would have found a way to kill herself if a gun wasn't available. She was an 11-year old girl who grabbed a loaded handgun off a shelf in the house, walked to the back porch, and shot herself.

Chris, I 100% don't intend this to be a mean question, but at what age did people start bullying you for being different?

We had a dude in a wheelchair who would have been a way better poster that we made our friend and cheered when his wheel hit the kickball out of pity but we liked him and his 16 year old sister jerked me off at 13 and made me a man damnit
