Rita was the one and only time I have ever heard my Dad say "frick"

we were cutting a tree off of my grandma's house/garage (in the middle of the storm) and a tree fell on my Dad's truck

he just looked at his truck, then to me, and screamed "frick!"

Had just got back from working in new Orleans and got sent to southwest La. Was truly a tale of two worlds. The way people came together there to help each other out restored my faith in humanity after being in New Orleans

What alot of people don't realize is that Katrina was the 3rd strongest storm of 2005 behind Rita and Wilma

Look at all those jacked up F-250s.

Seriously, that summer sucked arse. I had just settled back into working in NOLA and had to evacuate again.

Was living in the Galveston Bay area at this time and we evacuated to our family in Jackson(LA). The drive back through Lake Charles after the storm and seeing the damage was devastating.

Turned out that we didn't get hit bad in this one, but Ike really fricked us later.

I remember you and I and some other baseball Dads working tirelessly to clear a "friend's" yard of like, literally, 4 fallen live oaks in the aftermath...and this guy turning out to be the biggest ingrate ever.

A close second is the guy we brought the window unit to...remember?

This is a silly comment really. There were plenty of ordinary people doing extraordinary shite in the city for weeks after Katrina.

They all made landfall at category 3 storms and were all bad. Katrina had a 20+ft storm surge and I'm sure Rita was a little less or similar.

Well yeah, but I'm not talking about actual landfall. At the time, Katrina was the most intense storm ever observed in the GOM. A month later it was surpassed by Rita. Crazy to think that 3 of the 7 most intense Atlantic hurricanes on record occurred in 2005.

Rita was a baaaad bitch. I went to Bunkie for Katrina and we were out of power for about a day or two, wasnt bad though I couldnt get to my apt in Baton Rouge. Rita? We were out of power for almost two weeks. I went back to Bunkie for that bitch and that was a terrible decision. I couldnt get to BR for a week.
