I am taking my wife and 19 year old daughters to New Orleans tomorrow. I haven't been very much and don't know a lot about NO. What part is not considered safe? My girls have never been to Bourbon Street but we don't want to get into a bad side of town. Need to find a hotel in the good side too. Does Louisianna recognize Mississippi CC permit? Thanks for any help and no, I don't have pics of wife and daughters.

Go to Bourbon Street during the day and you'll be fine. It turns sketchy after dark and has some issues these days.

The safest areas are the Garden District, Uptown, CBD, and Warehouse District. If the area you're in starts to resemble Haiti, you should probably leave.

You will be fine walking around the quarter and bourbon, especially with the saints game at home. Just don't let them wander around solo after ten pm. It's pretty easy to realize if you are walking into a bad block, especially if you are walking around without a destination. It's the people blackout at 3am that get lost and walk into bad situations.

Get hotel on canal. Safest area for easy access to FQ and Warehouse/CBD.

Thank you very much for the info. I just don't want to get in a bad spot. I haven't been to NO very much at all. Thanks again for the help.

Use the Priceline express deal. I got the Hyatt by the super dome for 70 dollars two weeks ago. Choose the 4 star garden district for the express deal

If you haven't heard of the street, don't go there

And keep the ladies with you at night unless you're okay with them getting harassed

They could also Uber uptown somewhere. Try magazine

I find it hard to believe you can't provide the OT with our one and only request? Trust, it will produce the most beneficial answers

The problem is that the city doesn't break down neatly into good parts and bad parts so much. The Quarter is not necessarily a bad part of town, but there are tons of sketchy people in it especially after dark. When you cross Canal Street, Downtown and the CBD have far less undesirables but you still need to keep your eyes open.

Stay in the Blue

Basic rules of thumb places where you're mostly safe:
In the quarter
In the CBD on the Riverside of the dome
On St. Charles except between Lee Circle and the Crescent City Connection
In City Park
In Lakeview
On Bienville near Liuzza's
Along Bayou St. John
