3-13. If we can't make the playoffs, I want the best draft pick we can get.

Any other year I'd say 3-13.

But honestly, this group has one more year left. 8-8 means we solved a couple of current issues.

We should have some money to spend next year. If we were to land a FA WR and draft an impact DE, I want to take one more run at the playoffs with this group.

Even though it does not get you into the playoffs, I would rather 8-8 and the excitement at the end of the season as we fight for that last spot.

And, as many have pointed out, this is a very young team and the wins will be more valuable to help their experience going forward.

8-8

After their history, what gives you any confidence that whoever they draft, even at 3rd, is going to be worth a shite, anyway?

frick the draft. It's not a guarantee that you will get someone awesome.

It's a total crapshoot.

Will still have $14M in dead money on the books (Junior counts for $12.1M) plus any dead money from the major moves/cuts we will make this offseason.

3-13 personally as painful as that would be to stomach.

8-8 is not drastic enough for the changes I want to see happen occur...if anything it could just further validate "how close" we were if given some breaks to almost being better than the team that scraped by really was.

(I can already hear Drew talking about those 2-3 plays that could have changed the season and made them 11-5 when in fact we were a 5 win team that Drew carried)

I think Sean and Drew have more than enough good will in the FO to get another year no matter how this season turns out.

3-13 is arse lite under fire time which is exactly what I think Sean needs. Complacency kills, he acts untouchable because he feels like he is.

In addition to better draft position, coaching changes will be required even if the head remains the same. Some long overdue position coaches will be replaced.

Loomis as GM would feel heat and hopefully be more useful than just "bean counting" as he would be required to help assist in acquiring the right coaches to surround Payton with. Not just yes men.

People know what we do offensively and at 3-13 along with our long overdue trend of declining in offensive efficiency Sean may finally be required to hand the keys to the car over. What was once a Ferrari is now a fuel economy vehicle...we need a new offensive mentality to get from point A to point B.

If Rob stays in New Orleans, he should be allowed to pick his coaches...He literally inherited all of Sean's guys. Johnson, Vitt, and Allen.

I think this team has lost its edge and I hope enough real competitors are still on this team. The taste of 3-13 would be like eating dog shite...and someone as cocky and arrogant as Sean doesn't eat dog shite.

8-8 can get you into the playoffs. So that's what I vote for.

If it were 7-9 or 3-13, I'd probably go with 3-13.

Like it or not we are already in the rebuild of this team. Last years drat begun that process and the victory against Tampa that improved our record from 6-10 to 7-9 dropped the Saint 5-6 positions in last year draft weakening the pool of players we selected from.

8-8 or 3-13 are both still basically loosing seasons and neither gets the Saints into the playoffs.

3-13 with a top 5 draft pick will speed up our current rebuilding efforts. We could draft the best player of need at our spot are trade down and parlay more picks to address many positions of need.

If we finish 3-13 because of injury to our starting QB Loomis, Brees and Payton will all be back next year. They will all be back anyway.

I highly doubt 8-8 gets us in the playoffs and unless we drastically improve, I doubt we get to 8 wins anyway. We just lost to fricking Tampa....in the Dome. That's not a Patriots scenario last year where they actually got destroyed by a good Chiefs team.

We lost to a team that's going to have a top 5 draft pick. So, I don't see 8 wins at all.

Rooting for your team to lose to get a better draft pick sucks. Its too dependent on the draft pick panning out more than whoever you pick otherwise.

This. I will never root for my team to lose. The draft is too much of a crapshoot for me to ever advocate tanking. The only exception that I can think of is when the Colts lost Manning for the year, and the best QB prospect in years was coming out the same year. There have been All-Pros drafted 10th-20th, and there have been busts drafted 1st-9th.

I mean the chiefs were 1-2 at the time and had lost at home to the titans by 16. Chiefs also started 0-2

Looking at the chiefs, they were very inconsistent

Pats had also lost to the Dolphins by 13, and were shutout in the 2nd half

But a likely drew brees extension too and another likely increase in cap space

Not to mention that you don't necessarily need the money to be available in year 1

8-8 means you did not have a winning record and the Saints are drafting between picks 9-12 of the draft.

3-13 means terrible loosing record drafting between picks 1-5.

Difference 1-2 year rebuilding process or 2-4 years of rebuilding this team...

I hate to see them loose as much as the next fan but look how quick Loomis and Payton turned this team around following 2005 season with the second pick of the draft.
