When Brees signed that contract the team was doomed. I don't blame him for getting what he could get but he had to know that he would be the TEAM! The salary cap has hurt this team more than any other in the league.

Weren't people telling me a few months ago that we were in great cap position, loomis could make it work, etc?

I mean, I swear I was told we had no issues at all

You're just realizing now that Brees has been saving Payton and Loomis' jobs for the past 2-3 years

They all know what's happening. Coaches, players, some people on this board.

I feel bad for the players that are here honestly trying to make the team better. That are working hard, and playing every down.

They'll land somewhere else that deserves them in the end, when Payton is gone and Brees has had to retire.

Payton is rolling out as soon as Brees hangs it up, if he makes it that long

Ryan gone mid season,
Payton gone at the end.

Man, if only something big happened in the last few months that had a huge dead money impact

Nah, that didn't happen.

Like Loomis making a dumb arse decision? That seems to happen a lot, this is a 5-11 team at best

We had been bit on waiting too long for a few contracts. We got one early for a pretty good deal for both parties and he turned out to be a psychopath.

It's hard to plan for that, its even happened to the all-mighty Pats. Everyone here was praising the Byrd signing too. Right now, those are our 2 biggest mistakes

This was after the Junior fiasco?

Link? I don't think you'll find one with me in it

And we're still not in absolutely horrible shape after this season (assuming Brees extends), but we were going to be in pretty good shape in 2016 until that blow up

Thought you were talking about Graham. I haven't posted here since junior. 2 fricking horrendous contracts. Our front office sucks

I'm pretty happy with the Graham trade for what it looks like we got.

One of the reasons we had cleared up the cap space in 2016 along with the Lofton cut.

We made a mistake in thinking we were super bowl contenders in 2015 I guess. It sure seemed like we were though

Tigerbait is right. Capwise we will be tight this year and next. If Drew restructures next offseason he would give the franchise some much needed flexibilty with a large pool of cap money looming for the 2017 offseason.

I would assume that whatever flexibility Drew creates will be used to lock up Armstead and whomever else plays well that will be looking for new deals after this season..

A healthy Brees and an improved O line will have the offense back on track and winning 7-9 games. With another weak year in the South, it may just win the division. Payton's job is safe.

Rob Ryan will be gone and replaced by Dennis Allen.

Loomis will have one last year to make up from what has been a horrific run in decision making from 2010 - 2014.
