With the Bryd signing, is a #2 CB that big of a need?

Don't get me wrong, I still want to bring in some other guys, but we play a lot of 3 safety sets, with Vaccaro acting as a nickle back a lot, and you know he's not coming off the field.

I honestly think you can keep Lewis and P-Rob on the outside and you'll be good, especially with Bryd having their backs. P-Rob is good as press man coverage. The only thing is how his rehab is going, and how much of his speed he's going to get back.

For those skeptical, he had a rough rookie year, but played much better as the year went on, unseating Porter. He was highly rated in 2011 before his disastrous 2012 season.

It's a very big need. It's why we'll either sign a legit #2 free agent corner or draft a corner in the 1st or 2nd. P-Rob and White are good, but they aren't the long term solution at CB. They are both patch work at best.

I think it definitely lessens it from being a high need(right up with C, RT, and 3rd WR) to making it more of a want to upgrade spot.

The cupboard is far from bare at CB and with an elite FS roaming back there it will help cover some deficiencies(especially White's).

PRob's questions will definitely be how well he comes back from injury and can he stay consistent.

White's questions are can he clean up his deep ball technique and be more "sticky" on intermediate routes.

At this point, almost everyone left on the market is going to come with a few questions also. They couple that don't have big questions are likely out of our range.

Not how Ryan saw it before PRob went down. Things may have changed but we'll get a chance to see.

If PRob can play at his 2011 level (which I think he can in RR's scheme AS LONG AS HE'S physically on the same level after returning from his injury) then I am 100% happy with him as our #2 CB, White at 3 and Sweeting backing them up.

Edit for clarification: we still need depth, and I believe we can get it in the draft. I'm just making the case for NOT spending money on a FA.

I'm not skeptical at all of Probs skill, moreso his health. I'm pretty petrified going into the season with just Lewis, Robinson, and White.

I'd just really like one more guy for quality depth. That Philly game scared the crap out of me when Lewis went out.

PRob snagged 7 interceptions from 2011-2012.

so, he has shown some play making ability.

i know people may not trust him b/c of how things went in 2012 and that is fair. But I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do in a Rob Ryan defense.

I honestly hope we are done with the White experiment soon.

White has potential and came from a small school so I say give him one more year. But yes if he isn't showing after this year it's time to move on from him as an outside corner. He is still good in the nickel role.

My thing is, I think the dude is a very solid nickel, and he's a great dime. I just don't trust him as our #2 at all. And given that Prob missed all of last year due to a pretty serous injury who knows how hell come back.

I just don't think it's wise to sit tight and count on that.

Get a grip

QB ratings throwing against corners... P Rob in 2011 graded out at 7.

Anyone that undertands football...knows that we need a legit #2 corner...Hell, most teams would kill to buy P-Rob or White from us to solidify their #3 cornerback position. Problem is...we have 2 #3's and we don't have a #2.

agree on White. He's done alright all things considered in my opinion.

especially in 2013.

he started to a little better about halfway through 2012 around the time he got hurt.

he's taken a few steps I think. Just not that many though, mainly has to do with his playing time.

he wasn't supposed to get as many chances but injuries to others have forced him into more action.
