Will we emulate Wade's D when we play the Camthers next year?

Not surprised this hasn't gotten more play here or on MSB, but the obvious MVP of the SB is Wade Phillips.

He took apart the Camthers with ease and made sure the Broncos didn't have to rely on Peyton.

Here's how he did it:

Green Dog Blitz

It is sad that he could've been the Saints D coordinator...

Gotta have the players to look that good. There's a few all pro guys on that D

Understood.

Still brilliant by Wade to come up with that.

(notice how the article subtly knocked Carolina's O? )

Well, it is still important to review the offense you're playing and develop something to stop them.

Same old, same old ain't gonna cut it. That's why we've sucked on D for years and years.

I liked what Elway said when asked if he would take an offensive player:

If there is a pass rusher available, he'll take him. Can't have a great defense without a good pass rush. I think we've established a good base.

I wish Junior wasn't such a fricking shite head

Every bit of this right here:

As long as the green-dog blitzers are patient and sure that their man is not just chip-blocking but actually staying in all the way, and as long as they’re disciplined in their rush lanes so as not to disrupt the four rushing defensive lineman, it can be a lethal approach.

is coaching.

Agree with this, but I don't expect much as the same coaches are here.

It's a pretty simple concept. LSU has used similar principles against spread offenses in the past

It really helps when your DEs are more athletic than a freak like Cam

You know how much I agree with that.

Interesting in that it seemed the Carolina was unprepared for it.

In watching the game, I couldn't tell just what Denver was doing on D, schematically, but I did see that Carolina looked lost on offense.

Woulda thought Rivera, with his background, would've seen this coming.

Denver's defender had a comment that they were shocked that Carolina changed very little in the 2 weeks.

Don't get me wrong: Wade is one of the best defensive minds to ever live.

That's the old, "why change what works?" deal.

If they change it up and get their arse whipped, everybody would get on 'em for changing the successful formula.

Didn't matter, as it turned out.

The front seven won that Super Bowl more than Wade did. JMO.

That's great and all but you have to have talent (also the RIGHT talent) to make that happen.

Prime example that is painfully obvious:

Alvin Gentry has attempted to emulate Golden State's schemes in NOLA. We all know how that is turning out.

They have a solid interior DL, 2 premier edge rushers (1 good rotational guy as well), 2 linebackers who are good in coverage and can stay disciplined to their gaps, 3 solid corners (1 being extremely underrated elite), and a pair of solid safeties.

Let me know when we have that, because right now we have maybe 3 of that list...

Come up with what? Having Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware? Because that's why Denver won.
