Seems as if the media changes their story daily just for the hell of it, it's obvious they don't know crap.

You're only looking at one side of the equation. On the field, yes he is worth every penny. Problem is Tom Benson is running a business here. Businessmen like to achieve the greatest heights while keeping costs to a minimum. This type of disagreement is inevitable and unavoidable

I pause in saying things sometimes because I don't want to be misread on logic vs. my opinions. That being said, I look at it like this......

A lot of people have compared Drew-Saints to Manning-Colts. There's a big difference there. Manning coached the Colts "Offense". Not because he's the best, but because he ran that shite. Their coach, to me anyways, proved he is a lower class coach. That's it. If you switched Brees and Manning, Drew would've done a better job in my opinion. Brees is better than Manning to me. But I'm a saints fan since I was old enough to know what I was watching. But as an adult, I see him as better.

I love Drew Brees. Without him, the Saints wouldn't be where they are. No one can deny that. It's obvious. He deserves to be the highest paid QB. But after all his hard work and being blessed the way he has, he owes it to himself to keep what he helped build. When you die, money stays. It gets spread between your relatives and people that were your friends because of that very thing.

He will go down as the greatest to ever take a snap in my opinion. But being a hardcore fan as I am of the Saints, and Drew Brees, he owes it to himself to continue his legacy, get those rings, those records, and walk into the sunset with his "team" and be remembered forever.

On a off subject, I'm drunk and I'm not even gonna start to proof read what I just typed. So if it's f'ed up.....sorry.

Without nicks, colston, graham, sharper, sproles, Thomas, we don't win a third of the games over last six years. FACT

If you want to be contenders you don't give a blank check to anybody. If he wants to win, he can't expect anything more than what has already been offered to him. Otherwise let him go to the browns and see how the money works out for him ,he will complain about getting killed every game.

Although I agree with you on the quality of the players you mentioned, it's called a team.

So Colt could come to New Orleans and do what Drew has? Drew could throw for more yards than Colt with High School recievers. Sounds like you are edging on calling Brees a system QB....

Think it over.

I never said colt is on the same field as brees, but his supporting cast is no where near what the saints have. If Brees went to browns they wouldn't be a playoff team. The pass rush would get to him and his production would drop significantly.

My point is without the supporting cast, he wouldn't be breaking records and winning super bowls.

As he has stated. And as it is with any player that breaks a record. It's a team sport. He's better because of them and they are better because of him. Let's not forget that the QB is the one that touches the ball every single snap.

Dumbest stat ever. What other player has even played in all 3 of these games
Hell I doubt any have ever played in both the Alamo Bowl and Outback bowl except for maybe 2 classes of Perdue alum that played in them with Drew.

Hardly his most impressive stat. It just adds onto the list of things he's done. Which makes it cool

it really pisses me of that sean peyton gets no love.

i firmly believe, that in sean's system, an average q.b. will become a pro-bowler in two seasons. but, i guess i'm the minority.

I don't agree with that at all. It's a very complicated offense and it needs a smart, talented QB to run it.

I get it's chump change and we could just as easily say the Saints should pay him, but they've bellied up to the bar, offered the biggest contract in NFL HISTORY, and Brees scoffs over what will amount to nothing for him after taxes.

I was initially worried our FO would lowball Brees but now I'm really starting to think Brees is being a bit of a chump in all this. And I ADORE Brees.

This. I would hate to have to learn that book

And lets not forget, we don't really know anything about this other than what the media is telling us. I look at it like this. It's none of my business how much someone else makes. If I asked a guy at work, or he asked me, "how much money do you make?", I'd probably get told to frick off.

All that should be important to us as fans is that he signs and the Saints continue to succeed.

THIS. If we have to prove why he deserves everything we can give him then we might as well save ourselves the trouble. Some people just don't get it. I know its a team sport and the Saints have done a incredible job of getting talent but without Drew this team is not as good as it has been or as good as it can be. Period. This includes everything he does. The stuff we see on Sundays and the stuff we don't see but his teammates have the pleasure of seeing and believing in. Pay the man, even if it hurts us in 3 or 4 years. This is a right now league and right now we have at least one more superbowl trophy waiting for us!

The answer is obvious...

He is not trying to get an outrageous figure, he is trying to get what he is worth. BEST QB IN NFL MONEY.
I say pay him.

If that was the case we would have kept Aaron Brooks(thank God we didn't) and not go after a broke armed QB

This statement has so much fail in it I cannot even begin to describe it. This system was built around Drew Brees. Sean is the brains yes but somebody has to throw the ball and to the right guy every time even if the defender is in a good position. And this isn't a fail proof system. Great systems fall all the time because of the guy behind center. You think Saint coaches asked Aaron Brooks to throw behind him? NO! And he was a above average athlete (note I didn't say QB). This whole thing is getting crazy.
