Who's to blame the most for the defense: 4 candidates

1. THE PLAYERS: They just suck and don't give a shite. See Byrd, Jairus. Cameron Jordan will get 3 sacks in one game and then disappear for a month. I didn't see Stephone Anthony until the 4th quarter. They drop easy INTs and can't generate a turnover to save their lives.
2. DENNIS ALLEN: Shitty schemes. Players are put in bad situations. Poor tackling and technique. Players who are good elsewhere show up in New Orleans and are suddenly crap.
3. SEAN PAYTON: He decides who's on the roster. He decided to go into week 1 with 3 cornerbacks with zero game experience and Delvin Breaux on the roster. But hey, we need 5 RBs on the roster, and that WR we drafted in the 2nd round, and the backup QB in the 3rd round who's already been cut.
4. MICKEY LOOMIS: All the horrible salary cap decisions. The people hired to scout these rookies that Loomis (err...Payton) picks are clearly giving them shitty information. Trading half of next year's draft every year to pick guys who don't even make the roster.
Rank them 1-4.

That could be 3 categories there. The player is crap. The DC is playing him over Anthony. Loomis got him here in the first place.

You can blame Payton and Loomis for keeping them around for this long in the grand scheme of things, but the answer to the problems with our defense start and stop with those two arse clowns.

Whoever has been making the roster decisions over the last few years.
It is ridiculous how much they've fricked up this roster. You can't really blame a guy like Crawley for getting abused. He has no business in the NFL. Much less trying to cover a Cooper or Cabtree.

sorry but Sean Payton you are now on the hot seat as far as i'm concerned. the only reason you and Brees are still here is because Tom Benson is damn near 90 years old and doesn't have much grasp of what is going on. He would rather tread water at 7-9 than risk dying while we're rebuilding...

well that sounds like the same reasons that led to previous DC's exit here so not gonna blame him mostly.
I'd put Loomis first, he could wear a pair of clown shoes and wouldn't stand out in a room to me.

Then on Payton holding on to his buddies despite mostly shite results year after year.
Then Allen for this shite scheme and play calling.
Players deserve some blame but they change every year so you have to look elsewhere at some point, especially when you have pro bowl players come in and "regress" because of shite schemes.

So much this, especially Vitt. The problem isn't the players. It's Payton and Loomis holding on to coaches who simply can't coach our talent. Sure Belichick is awesome, but he consistently has fantastic coaches around him that get the best out of what they have.
We don't have that anymore.

You can make a case for Payton. You absolutely can.
But Brees is one of the best QBs in the history of the NFL, our offense was first in the NFL last season, and he hasn't showed any signs of slowing down.

We've improved a great deal since Ireland got here. A few more years and he'll have this team stocked with talent. Whether or not we have the coaches to develop and utilize that talent is yet to be seen

pretty sure I've seen the topic beaten to death on this board but its been awhile since I revisited the subject.
