he whole “we traded our entire draft for Ricky Williams” is cliched, and the idea that it was the Saints “worst” draft pick or really even a bad move is just flat out wrong.

San Francisco trading 3 first rounders
to pick Tray Lance was far worse trade in terms of what they gave up and who they picked. SF also got zero production out of Lance and traded him for a 4th rounder, as compared to Ricky’s PT with the Saints and being back two 1sts.

Yep but all of that pales in comparison the the Herschel Walker trade from the Dallas Cowboys to the Minnesota Vikings in 1989

Essentially "

Vikings got Walker, 3rd rd pick and 10th rd pick from Dallas in 1990 ,and a 3rd pick in 1991.

The Cowboys got Minns 1st, 2nd and 6th in 1990 - 1st and 2nd in 1991, and 1st, 2nd nd 3rd in 1992. plus a couple of players.

The charges fit in there as a 3rd team and got as player for a draft pick.

But yea, that trade built Dallas's dynasty of the 90's

Right. I’m sure someone has numbers out there to support it better, but I’d guess that 1st and 2nd round picks combined hold roughly 70% of the total value of a teams yearly allotment of draft picks. Minnesota gambled almost three times as much on Walker as the saints did on Rickey.

I would go with the kicker, but I remember that they traded away for first overall pick in their first draft for Gary Cuozzo, who was a backup at Baltimore. That was the same year they took Les Kelly.

Russell Erxleben is the worse decision due to taking a kicker that high, but R least he was a serviceable punter in the NFL.

Sullivan is worst choice because he wasn't playable in the NFL.

I'll at least say worst picks in the Payton era fir 1st round only:

1. Marcus Davenport
2. Stephone Anthony
3. Payton Turner
