Archie deserved the right to finish his career as a Saint instead of being dumped by Bum

Morten Andersen without a doubt

Agree

This, then I realize that we had a really good team and cut Jake Delhomme & Marc Bugler to keep Aaron Brooks. Yes Jim Haslett is stupid.

They tried to make Aaron Brooks strictly a pocket passer. The year he took over for Blake he made a bunch of really sick runs.

My votes for Sammy knight tho.

Ive always liked Reggie and Im glad to see him having success.

+1, he was a class act and helped add star power to the team. But he wasn't a huge loss (in fact it was a good thing, because we got Sproles )

Deuce is definitely one of the top players saddened to see not be able to play. I can't count how many times I have yelled DEEEUUUUCCCEEE. Or.. "DEUCE IS LOOSE!"

good thread and a lot of good names

dunno if I could get it down to one, there were so many heart breaks over the years. Some seemed inevitable. Some I kinda felt good for them to have a shot at winning outside this organization when it was so bad.

The ones that hurt the most for me are when it looked like they were at the brink of success then lost a key player...

The late 70's was the first glimmer of hope. Manning/Muncie/Galbreath/Chandler were exciting offensively. Breaking that up to create more black hole years was excruciating.

The Haslett era had potential but moving Sammy Knight was a key part of his failure. It was all the more exacerbated by replacing him with the abysmal Tesucky Jones.

Without a doubt it would be the field mouse Sam Mills.

A man and player so great the F-ing panthers have a statue of the guy outside their stadium. They guessed that his best days would be passed and just pissed him away. They were gone soon after. Perhaps my favorite player of all time. A guy who over achieved his entire life. RIP Sam.

Morten Anderson.
They left him unprotected thinking no one would pick him up. They were gone soon after

Became a Saints fan during 1-15 season so it was all about Archie. But when we added Dalton & Eric Martin I was hooked. When we let both go those were the 2 I hated to see go the worst. To the dome patrol guys leaving was a crushing blow too. Losing Reggie ? I'm neutral liked pub we got for having him but Brees has surpassed him greatly and sproles is a more complete back.

Reggie? The guy who didn't want to play in New Orleans when he was drafted? The guy who lied about taking money in college and never apologized? The guy who was always in need of the spotlight, even though his play never warranted it? The guy who made his displeasure with the Saints public on Twitter?

Joe Horn? The guy who caused that amount of internal strife in the Saints and led to the departure of Willie Roaf? The guy who said he hoped the Saints moved to San Antonio?

Those are two of the happiest departures in Saints history, IMO.

The saddest departure was Sam Mills. He was a great man and a great leader.

Drew is the one and only person who did, I'd say. That's what makes him so damn special.

Drew actually wanted to go to Miami but OK. We just happened to be the only team who offered him a good contract.
