Absolutely right. We lost Jabari Greer, and instead of spending big money on a quality NFL CB, we spent $54 million on a safety. We only have one starting caliber NFL cornerback, and it's killing us. This staff and front office is usually great at free agency, but it looks like they were wrong here.

We payed one guy big money to not give it his all and bryd got paid could have had revis island but we choose to pay a safety who now is lazy.

I'd rather have kept Jenkins and used the Byrd money to sign a quality cb.

The defense did blow yet again, but they we're put on a short field numerous times due to our lack of offense oh and the pick six doesn't help.

It's the players, not Rob Ryan. Same thing happened after the 1st year with Gregg Williams. I don't know if they are just not trying or don't want to or just suck. This is the same defense from last year. Hell, it's supposed to be much improved. Main reason is Patrick Robinson and the pass rush is not getting any pressure, which was a big reason for success last year. This has always been a theme with the Saints defense. They just don't get it. They have cost us too much over the years and something has got to change.

I don't understand it either. Junior Galette and Cam Jordan aren't the terrors they were last year. Akiem Hicks hasn't taken the next step everyone thought he would. LB's are solid, but not impactful. With the exception of the forced fumble, Jairus Byrd has not lived up to his billing. Vaccaro has made absolutely no plays. Corey White is way too inconsistent, and his bad plays are costly. P-Rob.. well, you know. Where is Raphael Bush? Every single blitz has been perfectly picked up by offenses. No pass rush. Only one forced turnover. They get mauled by offensive lines on running plays. They are at their worst in crucial moments, especially after the two-minute warning. I can't believe how terrible this defense has been. So disappointing.

Byrd and Vaccaro and Lewis aren't making plays in the secondary. and our middle LB's our very very weak. Everything else was fine.

That's the difference.
The defense gave up a FG on that last drive. Brees gave up 6 points all by himself. Had that not happened, that last drive wouldn't have mattered.
Brees also took a sack which knocked us out of Field goal range. Which would've made their field goal irrelevant. Payton also blew a time out which called back a first down which could've chewed clock and made that last drive fail.
People who put this whole game on the defense and forgive the offense and say the defense is to blame are either stupid or didn't watch the game.

See I completely disagree with this. I've only noticed us send 5 or more guys a handful of times these past 2 games. And when we actually blitz we get some pressure. We did get a couple qb hits and hurrys against the Browns and Ryan was forced out the pocket a few times. The problem is we won't commit to blitzing. We sure fake blitz a ton though. And just like the stupid running shite we do on offense, no one will buy our stacked box fake blitz drop back coverage plays if we never make them respect our blitz in the first place.

Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. You guys are blowing this out of proportion. There are kinks in this defense but the talent is there. Give it at least a few more weeks before you bail on it completely.
This defense did not have Greer for half of last season and we managed at CB. We are making PRob a scapegoat at this point. At this point I'm ready to call it schematic. I have not seen anything on that field yet that looks even half as creative as what we saw on defense last year.
