What kind of odds do we think Brees is back next year?

I'm pretty weary about the fact that were about to let the best player in the history of our franchise go into this season not signed to a deal. My lowkey conspiracy theory is that Brees wants to see how this season goes and leave the door open to test FA next year if the wheels fall off again this season.
I think we make it to the playoffs, he may sign on for one more run at it. If we miss them again, I have this strange feeling he may look at a team like Denver/Houston to see if he can latch onto a contender late.

If we make the playoffs then he is a lock to return for 2018. If we miss the playoffs then everything is up in the air, and I almost expect him to leave and try to make a run at a ring somewhere else. I wouldn't say it would be definite that he would leave, but I really really would not be surprised.

Can't put odds on it now.
If we make the playoffs and then put a competitive offer on the table I have no doubts he'll be back.
If we miss the playoffs we are going to have to seriously overpay to make him consider staying, and I still don't think he does.
He's already said he can't keep playing on a losing team and is going to play out his contract.
He's at the point where it isn't all about the money, but also about his legacy. He needs that other ring for people (stupid as they may be) to seriously consider him one of the best ever.
It's always been the knock on him, and people brush of the one ring he has now.

I don't think it would be Denver, he will get killed with their weak offensive line and no protection, Houston would be the ticket for him, great offensive line to protect him and a good defense to match. I can see him taking Houston to the playoffs each year, they just never had any kind of decent QB to lead them.
I think drew is gone after this year if we aren't "dramatically" improved on defense so that he doesn't have to score 30 points every damn game just to stay in the game and still need to score to win at the last second. that shite gets old and I don't blame him a bit to be sick of it.

When did that happen? Living in Houston, that certainly wasn't the case last year
They didn't even have a good offensive line. From the paper this week:
quote:
"The one thing I'm a little surprised by is they haven't started to address the offensive line in a more meaningful way," said former NFL agent Joel Corry, who writes about the business of football for CBS Sports. "It was kind of a weak link last year, besides the quarterback position. Everyone is harping on the loss of Bouye, but he was a very expensive luxury. Because their cornerback situation is healthy, they can survive that loss.

It was another ugly display of pass protection breakdowns from the Texans' blockers as they surrendered four sacks and six quarterback hits. Over the past two games, the Texans have allowed a combined eight sacks and 16 quarterback hits.

Unless we severely regress he's back. Dude has it made and who the hell wants to uproot their entire family at the absolute twilight of their career before it's necessary/ if it's necessary. I think people are putting too much stock into comments made after a frustrating season. It would have to be a Taylor made situation that a contender simply needs a qb. In terms of legacy leaving a team/ city that adores you and wants you only to likely fail in chasing a ring, would be a shitty way to end a career. For a guy who is all about image and likely planning his next career I highly doubt he'd make that risk unless we just flat out sucked.

just going by what espn said, in talking about romo they stated he would get killed at Denver because they cant protect the QB but at Houston he would be very well protected and wouldn't have to worry about getting hit all the time and get hurt.
just going by what they said
just going by what they said

See where you went wrong was thinking espn has anything to do with sports. They are strictly an entertainment company that sometimes shows sports.

If you guys don't make the playoffs I think he is gone (assuming it isn't because of just massive amounts of injuries).
It's just too easy to see him going to the Broncos or another team with a loaded defense to go ring chasing for two years.

sure seems that way, I don't get too involved in all the minutia like you guys do. I watch espn, and think they are pretty much right about things they say, and then I see what you guys say and mix those views together and form an opinion on things sometimes adding in a dose of what sounds reasonable to assume

Drew doesn't want to leave. It's not like he's just going to go put up 5k on a new team with a new coach with a new offense.

Winning record he stays.
Losing record he thinks about options.
Now back to this year.
"Why does CSP hate LSU players?"
