A tie is considered half a win, or .5

A tie has greater value when you have a sub-500 record. Because a tie counts as a half win and loss, a .500 game value would put them a few thousandths of a percent ahead of us.

we would have the same win %

but.....

they would have a better division record, winning the tiebreaker.

Simply put, 2 ties would = 1 win for Carolina.

Basically. It puts them effectively at 7-9 and they hold the tiebreaker over us.

But deeper than that, they would technically be a few percentage points higher than us in that scenario also, if I'm not mistaken.

6-8-2 = 7-9 in win % (43.8%)

Carolina gets the tiebreaker w/ the better division record... 3-2-1 vs. 3-3
