You do know the difference between criticizing someone and saying someone is washed up and needs to be replaced, right?

This.

Brees makes mistakes and has bad games . . . you know, . . . just like every quarterback in the league. But the knee jerk overreactions are silly. But it's to be expected on a message board, especially during a game I suppose.

more so lately. Not just the INTs but bad throws.

Brees will get out the slump soon

Sometimes a benching helps to snap someone out of the funk that they are in. I can't explain why there has been such a difference between "home" Brees and "away" Brees but there has been a difference. I believe it is just mental and fortunately he was finally able to snap himself out of it and have a good 2nd half. Last night the team was playing really well but he wasn't again in the first half. People need to not be so sensitive about things. You have to look at what is best for the team. Wanting him benched does not mean we don't respect him for who he is or what he has done for the Saints. Drew has had a really bad funk on the road and it has cost this team this year. I'm glad he was able to finally snap out of it because without him we stand zero chance in Seattle.

In what NFL universe would Drew Brees be benched for being in a slump????? This isn't some marginal starter who is proving his worth.

That under throw to Sproles for a TD was killer.

I admit I get overly angry and post mad thoughts about Bree's but the next day I remember he is a top 5 qb. For the life of me I can not understand why he plays so bad on the road this year. The interceptions are just bad throws not good plays by the defenders.

You weren't just criticizing his play, you were calling for his replacement

Obviously Brees doesn't need to be replaced, but for the last half of the season his arm strength, or lack thereof, has me slightly concerned. I have no hard evidence to back that up, just a feeling after watching his passes for the last 6 or so games.

The problem with this board and every other sports message board or talk show ever invented is:

You transition from people (rightly) noting that Brees tends to force things on the road and commit costly errors to this:

On the contrary, I think it looked decidedly above average, but not what I'm accustomed to seeing from him. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he's noodling the ball, but it feels like it's just not quite what it was even two years ago. I wonder if he's playing through more than we realize.

No. I was not. I suggested it is time to "identify his successor". No where did I say now.

And, it's not crazy to consider it while observing poor play. It's not a character assassination, which some of you are really good at, nor was it an attack on his legacy.

The only absurd thing about my thread last night was the vile, mean spirited responses from a select few that resulted in the thread being whacked.
