Omg! None of us knew who he was! Except our white knight, SFP. He is our light in the darkness, our savior.

No collegiate receiver covered more ground last season than Brandin Cooks, the 2013 Biletnikoff Award winner, who led the NCAA with 1,730 receiving yards on 128 catches. He added 16 touchdowns to his totals, firmly establishing himself as one of the nation's most vexing offensive problems. Add in his 1,151-yard 2012 season, and it's clear that the 5-foot-10, 189-pound Cooks is ready to attack any defense he faces with legitimate 4.3 speed and rare agility - even if he doesn't look like your traditional No. 1 target. "Just the production," he said at the combine, when asked why he believed himself to be the best receiver in this class. "Numbers don't lie, and what I bring to the game and my confidence with the way I work, my work ethic. I feel like no one is out there working harder than me. I have a lot to prove. I have a chip on my shoulder. They say I'm not the tallest, but I feel like there's so many guys in this game today that are potential Hall of Famers like Steve Smith, who's killing the game right now. DeSean Jackson. I can go down the list, and there [are] under 5-10 [guys] that are definitely great receivers in this game." In the right system (and the Saints seem to have it), there's no question that Cooks has the potential to be a true gamebreaker. - Doug Farrar

He's a chess piece type of WR. There is no other receiver outside of OBJ, Cooks, and Lee that look to be that way.

archer is the prototype of that kind of guy

i'm not saying we should have picked him in the first or anything...just saying you have to include him

as do yours

I am not sold that they will use Cooks as a returner. They are saying they will try him out there, but I still think they look at a Dave Meggett type guy in the 4th-5th to be our scat-back and return man

Wrong. We traded 1st round picks and only gave up the one in the 3rd.

Do we have to argue semantics?

We can agree that two picks were used, correct?

Semantics, maybe, but when it's just changing positions in the same round, I don't consider it "giving up a pick". But that's me.

Yes, but you are mischaracterizing the trade. They used a 3rd to get a better 1st than they already had.

He was probably the second best WR in the whole thing. (IMO, Evans has major bust written all over him, and though I like Beckham alot, I think he can still be a little inconsistent). I don't think WR was an absolute first round need for the Saints, but he was undoubtedly the best player remaining on their board and none of the other available players at the time were necessarily can't miss guys.

The Saints' window to be a great team is now, but closing with each year Brees ages. If Cooks is a guy who you think is going to help you get to the Super Bowl NEXT YEAR, then I'm not heartbroken over losing a 3rd round guy who may or may not have made the team or been a starter.

PT did a lot of kickoffs, he's not terribly fast. Plus SFP can be our KR, just sit back there with a lawn chair and watch the ball fly out the endzone.

PR.... we'll see, cadet is a little jittery.

Sproles hadn't impressed me as a returner for the last 2 seasons. So, I say give everyone a try and used the best guy. I do think Cadet can do it, but he doesn't need to be fast, just good at it.

If everyone is gonna be this sensitive about the trade, I'm not looking forward to Cooks' first bad game on here.

Honestly, it was really a 4th round pick plus 5 spots up. And if we were just going to use the pick for a center, might as well just throw it away now.
