This is true. I tend to think that Blanton was more responsible for it happening. To me, it looks like Munnerlyn was pulling right and Blanton was pulling back. It ended up as some weird, badass suplex/hip toss combo.

If you look carefully, Munnerlyn's body swings right as the motion goes through and he follows through entirely with his right leg. I believe him in his intent. Doesn't change the fact that Brees got suplex'd and that's 15 yards.

No. Again, one does not unitentionally lift another man over ones head.

This was an intentional suplex, period. and it was worth 15 yards. Not a big deal but worthy of note.

I don't know what else the defender was suppose to do with Drew Brees still trying to move, and the refs not blowing the whistle.

Sooo much ignorance in this thread.

Munnerlyn had complete control of Brees. Enough control that he could set his hips, suplex Brees and rotate his own body out from underneath prior to completing the move.

It was a very nice suplex. It was also very illegal.

Bring him down to the side and you do not get a penalty. very simple.

captain was falling back he didn't just stand there and lift him up, he was pulling back. drew gave up on the effort and captain fell backwards slinging drew over his head

this isn't rolondo mclain and trindon holliday. Watch drew in that gif, he doesn't go over until he completely stops moving forward. captain is already pulling back before drew stops. drew stops, then he goes flying

Seen it, looks more like bending forward to secure the ball as best as he could.

But keep arguing that he needed to suplex him, really.

Holy shite! what are you watching?

Munnerlyn sets his hips underneath Drew to give him the leverage needed to complete the suplex. That was such a technically superior suplex that I wonder of Munnerlyn ever wrestled at some point in the past.

Munnerlyn was NOT FALLING BCAK. He stepped into Drew, set his hips (required to lift another full grown man) and lifted him with leverage. Watch the end of the move when he spins out from underneath Drew to avoid being fallen on. Perfect suplex form.

Stop. Just stop.

Soooo, he does not go backward untill he stops going forward...... Got it.

Keen understanding of physics you have there.

I wrestled for 6 years. I have suplexed and been suplexed. That was intentional, NO DOUBT.

That's like me pulling your arm in front of your face, and you're trying to pull it back. I let go, you hit your face, so it was my fault.

Not your fault for continuing to pull back.

The amount of force you need to lift up a 209lb person OVER your head is not something as simple on a whim of "he stopped moving forward, so I flipped him over my head because he stopped and I was still pulling".

This is a fun debate that should continue for months.

Have we discussed the cultural implications of this penalty?

Don't be such a douche, you can't drop a QB on his head. Hand to the head or field it's 15 yds. Sorry that's the rules fool

It was a legit penalty, but I think the penalty is idiotic. That being said, Drew should have got a personal foul too. His massive overreaction almost caused a small brawl.

I'm more surprised that a flag had to come AFTER Brees shoved a vikings player.

So much ignorance in your reading comprehension.

It is illegal. I said that.
I am saying, what was the defender suppose to do? Brees was still attempting to get out of the tackle, which is obvious. The refs weren't blowing the whistle, so the play was still at hand. He was directly behind him, and tackled him the one way he could.

Yes, he should have waited and it was a flag, no doubt about that. But it was obvious with his position on Brees, he tackled him the only way he could.

He's strong enough to german suplex him, he could have went left.

Honestly, I don't see it, Brees isn't a QB that tries to escape like Houdini when he's wrapped up. He goes down.

If it was someone rushing him and pulling him by the arm, a leg, shoulder, etc where he CAN escape, he does. Fully wrapped up, I don't think so.

More ignorance. All he could do was suplex? It is obvious you never played defense or wrestled. if you did, you must have sucked pretty bad.

His IQ is inherently at a moronic level. Evident by the fact that he is named something as stupid as Captain.
