I want to see if Saints talk would rather a win over their rival and picking 14th or a loss to their rival and picking 8th.

Keep your personal opinions of me aside. I want a legit poll here baws.

if the plan is to get rid of payton, then lose. if we are keeping payton then win.

We gave up a third round pick a few years ago to move up 7 spots to get cooks. The difference between a win & loss tomorrow could end up being more than 7 picks difference (there are 13 teams with the same record or +/- 1 win). Additionally, the cooks trade was only to better the draft position in one round, not all 7.

If you don't think losing a meaningless game (when the coach's job is not in peril) is worth a 3rd round pick (or better), then you are a fricking fool.

From Brees on PFT radio earlier this week..

quote:

Q: “Where does the motivation come from once the playoffs are unattainable? The motivation to go out and play hard, win. That same motivation you had back when the postseason is still a possibility.”

Brees: “Well, first of all, I take a lot of pride in what I do as a professional football player and representing the fleur-de-lis that’s on my helmet. The New Orleans Saints, our city, our community, I mean I really do. And so regardless of what we’re playing for with playoffs or not, I feel like I always have something to prove and something to represent. Like a great sense of responsibility.

“I’m also thinking about next year. I’m also thinking about could something happen in these last few weeks with our team that becomes a catalyst for something in the future. Like some type of tipping point. Maybe it’s just for one individual player. Or all of a sudden there’s just this moment where it’s a huge confidence boost and then that’s going to allow them to accomplish something great in the future that’s going to help us win and win a championship. I mean because that’s what it’s all about. And I feel like we’re building something really great with our team. I feel like we have great character, great leadership, and some young talent that will continue to get better and better with experience. This is where you begin to build and create that type of culture and foundation for what you’re going to accomplish in the future.”

It's the Falcons.

Why would any Saint fan in his right mind want to lose to the Falcons?

I want to lose and I think we will. I want the high pick now. There are no playoffs to be had. It's always good beating the Falcons but this time, I don't mind the L.

Sorry. Long term vs. Short Term

Winning is good for the team long term. It builds a winning pedigree. Defeating your rivals is good for morale, it's good for the young players, it's good for the fans. A higher draft pick guarantees nothing. There are plenty of teams who are eternally trapped in a top 10 draft pick, they get them every year, and yet they're still bad. That is the fate of the type of team who gives up and loses.

Sorry, not interested. The quality of player difference from pick 8-10 to 13-15 isn't really that different anyway. I would rather finish the season with momentum and confidence.

Plus, unless you're talking about a QB (which we aren't), no one player ever majorly changes a franchise. It takes an accumulation of successful choices over a period of time.

Kinda agree. It could be 5 spots higher in every single round. Loss definitely more beneficial long term. That being said I won't be devastated if we beat the Falcons down again.

Yeah, cause drafting a player like Cooks is just like drafting a player like ODB.

Beckham is an anomaly and a terrible example in any argument. If anyone knew what he was going to become, he would have been a top 5 pick.

The best player (so far) out of the first round in 2015 has been Marcus Peters, and he went 18th overall. Soo..

I'd rather have a 33 rd pick than lose to Atlanta

Yeah, winning this game would be a huge step towards building a winning pedigree.

I don't need a guarantee...just higher rated players to select during the 7 rounds of the draft.
