I'm counting 93 players, so either some of the UDFA's are rookie tryouts or we have to cut a few guys. 90 is the max.

The depth on this roster is light years ahead of the past 2 years. If we can get good production from that 2nd DE spot & LB/CB can stay healthy...this should be a team that makes the playoffs.

QB
Brees, Daniel, Grayson

RB - We went from having garbage depth to pretty damn stacked
Ingram, AP, Kamara, Lasco, Cadet, Murphy

FB
Kuhn, John Robinson-Woodgett

WR - Hopefully we can find a young guy out of this group to emerge as our 5th WR
Thomas, Snead, Ginn, Coleman, Tommylee Lewis, Lampman, Williams-Lambert, Corey Fuller, Rashad Lawrence, Travin Dural, Ahmad Fulwood

TE - No star talent, but 4 guys that are worthy of a roster spot
Fleener, Hooman, Hill, John Phillips, Garrett Griffin

OC
Unger, Jack Allen, Cameron Tom

OG
Warford, Peat, Kelemete, Landon Turner, John Fullington, Cameron Lee, Clint Van Horn

OT
Armstead, Strief, Ramczyk, Andrew Lauderdale

DT
Fairley, Rankins, Davison, Onyemata, Ashaad Mabry, Justin Zimmer, Devaroe Lawrence

DE - Hopefully we can get a good platoon going for that 2nd DE spot. Need to get production here
Jordan, Kikaha, Tapp, Okafor, Gwachum, Trey Hendrickson, Al-Quadin Muhammad, Mitchell Loewen

LB - Staying healthy is key, but we have 7 guys that could potentially be players for us...maybe even 8 with Bighill
Ellerbe, Robertson, Klein, Stupar, Anthony, Te'o, Alex Anzalone, Travis Feeney, Adam Bighill, Sae Tautu

CB - Just need to stay healthy for once. Plenty of depth
Breaux, Marshon Lattimore, PJ Williams, Sterling Moore, Crawley, Swann, DeVante Harris, Taveze Calhoun, Anthony Gaitor, Forrest Hightower, Arthur Maulet

S - Marcus Williams was a huge get. He solidified the position, & Rafael Bush isn't bad depth
Vaccaro, Bell, Marcus Williams, Rafael Bush, Erik Harris, Banjo, Keo, Robenson Therezie

K
Lutz

P
Morstead

LS
Jesse Schmitt, Chase Dominguez

Huge step forward on paper this year. Sean needs to just get it all to work together. Looking forward to a promising season.

Nah thats stacked I only hope we have competition for cadet and murphy.

I'm not thrilled at the TE position. Not a Fleener fan. But the cupboard is not bare.

Looking at DJ Pettway at DE to step up. Home town boy and all.

Lots of battles heading into camp in NOLA this year and thats a good thing.

This came up in another thread the other night and here is some food for thought.

For the purposes of this I will project players and potential cuts.

Offense:

QB---Brees, Daniel (2)
RB---Ingram, Peterson, Kamara, Lasco (4) Potential Cuts---Murphy and Cadet.
WR---Thomas, Snead, Ginn, (3) Coleman, Lewis (2)
we will carry at least 5 WRs, maybe 4 if we work Kamara at the slot more.
TE---Fleener, Hooman, Hill (3)
OL---Strief, Warford, Unger, Peat, Armstead, Kelemete, Ramczyk, (7) and I will add Turner (1)

So on offense you have 2 QBs, 4 RBs, 5 WRs, 3 TEs and 8 OL players...22 offensive players plus Kuhn at FB if Payton decided to keep one.

Defense:

DT---Fairley, Rankins, Davison, Onyemata (4)
DE---Jordan, Okafor, Hendrickson (3) Kikaha could be (4)
We will have at least 4 so add one more.
LB---Robertson, Klein, Stupar, T'eo (4)
Count on at least 2 more coming from Ellerbe, Anthony, Anzalone.
DB---Breaux, Lattimore, Williams, Moore (4)
Probably keeping (6) so choose from Crawley, Harris and Swann.
Safety--Vacarrro, Bell, Williams (3) At least 4, so add one more probably Bush.

So you have (4) DTs, (4) DEs, (6) LBs, (6) CBs and (4) Safeties. So that is 24 players

Add in
Punter--Morstead
Kicker--Lutz
LS---?

That is another 3...So know you have 22 Offensive, 24 Defensive and 3 Special teamers for 49 players. like I said above if Payton doesn't keep Kuhn if so you are now at 50 with all the draft picks making the team right now except Muhammed which may make it as the 4th DE...

So you have maybe 3 spots to play with for a few players on the chopping block and the undrafted players.

If that roster stays relatively healthy, this could be a special team.

If players like Coleman, Lewis, the plethora of young CB's, the Anthony we saw flashes of as a rookie, and Bell keep progressing, then this team should be able to compete for the South, in what might turn out to be the best division in the NFL (every team got exceptionally better the last few days).

Kikaha and Ellerbe are NOT maybes. Not in anyway.

I also don't see Anzalone as a maybe. You don't draft a guy in the third and then cut them. Super rare. If anything it'd be one of those redshirt IR things.

Anthony I'm getting more iffy on. I don't know if he can play special teams, and if he isn't a "starter" or first backup I'm starting to question his role. Allen just doesn't seem to like him. Hopefully the switch comes on.

I think it'll come down to him or Te'o in the end since Stupar is important for special teams, unless Anzalone gets the IR treatment.

You also missed Jack Allen, as I think we carry 9 OL this year (it's usually 8, but as many as 10 in the past). We could potentially carry 7 LBs. Maybe a blocking TE (we've carried 4 in the past). Also Onyemata will split between DE/DT, but I think more end this year. Mabry could stick as the backup nose to Davison. I also think the safety Harris sticks, and we only go 5 CBs. I also think Tapp has a great chance to stick.

On the UDFAs, with only 8 I don't see more than one or two surprising us enough to make the roster.

Anyone think we might try to keep 6 corners this year to keep both Crawley and Swann?

One of them can easily make the practice squad.

But both of them had leg injuries last year so we'll have to see how they even come back. Also pretty concerned about PJ's concussion. And Breaux's legs.

Odds are at least one of these guys won't come back and play at a high level.

If all healthy then I think Lattimore, Breaux, Williams, and Moore make it and the last spot goes to Swann or Crawley with the loser going to the PS.

They'll carry at least 5 safeties.
