I'm not saying that we have the best group of WR's in the NFL...but if Brees gets better protection and our oline does better at run blocking, then this is all that Brees needs to be elite. imo, the glaring needs are Oline and defense in general

An Elite WR would completely change this offense. Most of our needs will almost assuredly be addressed in FA.

We did just fine with plug and play receivers with a good OL an servicable defense for a while. Besides there will be gamebreakers in later rounds.

Colston, Cooks, Stills. Top 3 worst? Seriously? Also, you usually include the TE when talking about your receivers as a whole.

I can dig it.

But we really do need some interior lineman, or linemen period.

St Louis...another off the top of my head. There are probably a few more. Even Seattle's WR's are a joke compared to ours

Have potential though with Allen Robinson, Allen Hurns, and Marqise Lee.

I know it might sound stupid...but I always had a theory on QB's in the NFL.

QB names...do you hear star or greatness from it?

Grant it in hindsight some names are made by players undoubtedly ,but can you ever hear yourself saying Blake Bortles what a great QB.

Certain QB names that tend to just sound right

vs ones that don't

Leinart, Tebow, Grossman, Gabbert, etc

vs Manning, Brady, Young, Montana etc

even Favre as ridiculous as it sounds, sounds like a football name at least with John Madden saying it.

If the guys that are can't miss aren't there at 10, I'd like to see a trade back for another high pick if possible. There are a lot of OL in this class and we have a lot of needs IMO.

Sadly, I don't ever see us trading back in the high 1st.

If Cooper is there when we pick, we HAVE to pick him.

While I would love Amari, the smart thing to do in that situation would be to trade back and pick up a 2nd and 5th round pick or something

No just no. We have far more dire needs than a WR. We can find a decent WR in later rounds.

If there ever was a Saints fan cliche this is it.

You get what you pay for. You wait until the 5th round to address WR you'll get that guy that only shows up every 4th game or so.

Colston was an outlier, and he's now crap himself. Cooks is very good but he's not going to carry this offense. Neither is Brees.

I think Fowlers game translates better to the NFL than Shane Ray's. He's more versatile and stronger at the point of attack. Ray is a one trick pony.

I guess I'll say I'm not happy about being at #10, because it looks like yet again we will be right on the outside of getting a true difference maker and instead will have to get the 3rd best DE/OLB option, which sucks.
I actually think 10 is a great spot. Mariota and Winston will be gone quick, so one of the 5 most of us want will almost definitely fall past the next 7 spots.

despite our last USC DT, my dream pick right now is Williams, so lets say Mariota, Winston, Cooper, Gregory, Ray, and Beasley go in the top 9, which is very likely. we only need 3 teams to do something different from this mock to get him (or Gregory, Ray, Beasley, or Cooper).

agree 100%...

pass rusher at OLB/DE in the 1st...
OT in the 2nd...
CB in the 3rd...
C or G in the 4th
WR in the 5th...
C or G in the 6th...
K or QB in the 7th...

I can roll with this...5-7 will most likely be BPA but the C/G situation in FA and draft will definitely need to be addressed for numerous reasons.
