Good deal....keep building the defense.

Now at at 11, draft that nasty edge rusher in Barnett.

Whoever runs the saints/pels twitter accounts is a pretty big barstool fan, I see them replying to this kind of stuff all the time

No one on ST should be shocked by this news. I can verify this is 100% accurate. This has been the deal all along, they're just trying to negotiate the contract at this point.

And for those saying we get nothing, we got to move up a round with that secondary pick trade.

No, we traded Cooks for Butler and moved up a few spots in the draft.

Honestly, CB is harder to find than WR so in that respect Cooks for Butler straight up is a good trade. That's the good. There is some bad though:

- Butler is going to cost a lot more than Cooks
- Butler is 4 years older

Neither of this is that big a deal. We needed a CB more than what Cooks brings.

What sucks is we could have just signed Bouye or Gilmore and not given up anything...

He's a big Barstool fan in general it seems. He's tweets back and forth with a few of the other guys as well.

Yup.

But 100% PMT is doing this so Schefter and others are forced to credit them. They talk about this sort of thing all of the time.

Its going to be great when it breaks this way.

Idiots: "we only got the 32nd pick for Cooks, that's basically just a 2nd rounder, this is BS!"

Idiots later: " I would have only given up a 2nd rounder for Butler, we gave up a first, this is BS!"

Are you saying Bouye and Gilmore are better overall players than Butler? Just curious what you're trying to say, not that you are right/wrong.

It's clear we had to deal Cooks this year. Having a player pressed into service in his last year doesn't do anything and leaves us with a lost player after next year. It just so happened this was the best trade scenario to get a fantastic player for a spot we needed to address.

Sports media is a joke. They all start out with contacts; they burn the contacts, then they are speculators. They get some right, but most times they get them wrong.

Only reason I redacted my post from Tuesday night was because I wasn't sure how many people in the FO knew of the details.

You do realize that the whole concept of the show PMT is to make fun of sports media. The name combines Pardon the Interruption and First take. They even got threatened with a C&D by ESPN when they first started.

They basically just make fun of sports journalism. Which is why sports journalists are in love with the show and have basically made those guys stars.

I think it's a great trade overall. But the Pats are still the winners. They got a slightly younger CB and a 23 year old WR without really giving up anything.

Haven't watched to be honest. I pretty much stopped watching/listening to the talking heads since Bountygate. Also, even the Twitter news is getting unbearable with people attempting to be first in announcing something, it's almost (if not worse) than broadcast media with how far off they are from the actual truth.

He's saying that we could have signed a FA CB and theoretically had a starting CB and the #32...instead of just a CB.
