Listening to local sports radio and a caller mentioned how he heard that John Elway had said he's open to trading Aqib Talib. If this is true, the Saints need to trade for him immediately. I'm an eternal optimist, but if we don't get help in the secondary now that Delvin Breaux is injured, the Saints defense will get torn up all season long.

Talib is a solid CB, I remember the game a couple years back when he was with the Pats and he shut down Jimmy Graham when the Saints played them. I think he's had some off the field issues, but if he can keep that in check, he would be a much needed addition to the defense.

he was my guy when we signed Byrd. If we want to compete, we need to upgrade somehow. I'm very upset about Breaux's fibula. fricking POS bone.

What kind of salary cap hit would talib bring if we were to trade for him?

If they wanted a draft pick(s), what do you see him being worth?

We suck at drafting so give up a first for an already established name

First we go through "he has a groin" now its "he has a Fib".

Sheldon, Ellerbe and now DB.

Only $3 million of his contract is signing bonus money, so:

2016: ~$8m
2017: $11m
2018: $11m
2019: $8m

I'm not sure how his contract is structured, but I'd assume we could release him after any season with $0 in dead money

Devastating loss for the Saints... Breaux was primed to have a great season. Now we are without our top two corners from last season (Lewis and Breaux). PJ Williams looks promising, but he's young and inexperienced after missing all of last season. Damian Swann showed promise, but he's continually injured. The Saints need veteran leadership and play-making skills at the position, and Talib would provide that.

I wouldn't give up a 1st rounder for him, but a 2nd round pick and beyond, hell yes. Now, it's wise to be cautious here. I think most of us were excited when the Saints signed Brandon Browner last year. I don't believe any of us realized just how much of a train-wreck he was going to be. So, having learned that hard lesson, the Saints should NOT over-invest in Talib, but he is a valuable commodity the Saints badly need.

Agree with this, but beggars can't be choosers. If we want to have a decent secondary this season we might be in a position where we have to take another Browner sized risk.

The sad part about Breauxs injury is that I feel like all Payton is going to do is put Dixon into the mix and call it done..

Well, I googled Talib to see if there any news stories about the Broncos putting him on the trade market. Found an article where Elway put the trade rumors to rest, saying that the rumors are false and they never considered trading Talib. I don't know if Elway is playing it close to the vest, but here's the link to the article below:

Williams, Sterling Moore and Crowley/Harris will be the guys imo with Vaccaro covering more.

Talib would get shot, or shoot somebody in NOLA.

Not a good idea

Are you kidding me? This guy is the definition of thug. He can't stay out of trouble. Besides, he'd probably blow his own brains out with a gun before the season is over anyway. Dude is a moron. I don't care how good of a player he is.

We could have the two best corners in the league and it wouldn't matter until we get some pressure on the QB. You can only cover for so long.
