Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is leaving football and going into broadcasting, even with Dallas planning to release him Tuesday, league sources tell ESPN.

Always seemed like a pretty good dude. Never really understood the hate for him.

The hate was because he got too much attention too early because he was the quarterback of the Dallas freaking Cowboys. I remember that he had a one-hour program about him on the NFL Network after his fourth start.

He finished his career with two playoff wins and a ton of statistics. He's basically Phillip Rivers with better publicity.

The hate wasn't for him. The hate was more toward the hype machine.

IMO the hate for Romo stems from ESPN trying desperately to ram him into any conversation about elite QB's.

He was a decent QB, not elite, certainly not HoF material.

Tony Romo was a slightly better version of Jim Harbaugh at the QB position.

Ok horrible comparison but I'm sticking with it.

Crazy that he was the guy Payton originally wanted to bring with him. Actually think he likely would've had a better career in Payton's system. He had a couple of years during his late prime where he was just getting murdered due to the shite o line they had.

If he had the stats/wl record he's retiring with on most other teams it'd be much different.

I never liked how he was looked at in Dallas
