We need to extend him period.
If you want the new coach to have some success right out of the gate when the new staff take over. I feel like a coaching change is all we need. If we extend Drew for two years it gives the new coach the time to rebuild other areas and it give time for him to target his qb choice of the future. It's not Drews fault it's the fact our staff sucks at building around him and trading or getting rid of players he gets chemistry with. Stop with the Trade Drew talk cause it's stupid.

he's not being extended during season
he's not being traded
we're riding this out and seeing what shapes up.

Well he can't be traded. He just won't sign with us next season.

what everyone else said....

-no trade clause
-cannot be franchise taged
-refuses to talk about any new contract until the season is over
-end of season he is a free agent regardless of what happens.
-he will likely want to play for a contender where his hall of fame career will get more respect in a larger television market city.

Go the Manning Route and squeeze 1 more title out of his career. I don't blame him. He would instantly make Houston a contender, Denver, Miami

I think he retires at the end of the year. He'll be 39, hopefully healthy, rich, and can devote all his time to being a dad.

Manning chased another ring but he was also 36. Three years make a big difference.

I'm just thankful all of the NFC South teams have QBs. I'd be furious if he went the Bobby Hebert route. Unless we go on a run this year, I bless his decision to leave. I don't want him to but understand.

Wrong. Drew will break the all-time passing record next season. He isn't retiring.

We should trade him so our offense is Guaranteed to suck as much as our defense.

We as fans care more about that than Brees cares about it. He has his ring, health, and a beautiful family.

Depending on how this year goes...I think he hangs them up.

They do while he still has a little value left. Draft a QB. Get some defense

Out of your absolute fricking mind if you think he walks away while still being a top 3 QB, with every major statistical passing record right in front of him.

Plus a continuously growing QB salary market? No way. Guys are getting $27M this year. Drew, whether it's with us or someone else, is getting $30m/yr next year for sure.

Even if he accepts a lower price for a ring, he's still looking at $22-25M

I still don't buy him leaving. 4 kids is a lot to uproot at almost 40 to a very temporary situation. Now if it was to California near his place or somewhere he'd want to be permanently after football, I could buy that.
