Lol. More like being born in the “correct” ethnic group means you can do nothing and be rewarded jobs. fricking idiot.

This!!!! They'll never understand that but immediately down vote.

So you 2 guys would rather have been born black, correct? That is what you’re saying, no? There are tons of legitimate arguments against affirmative action type laws and rules, but at least try to be intellectually honest.

It amazes me how hyper-obsessed the NFL is with race. From owners to coaches to players. Obsessed! What’s Jay-Z’s take on this as an NFL consultant?

I understand intent of the rule but there are only 64 of these positions in the world. Head coaches generally get 3 years minimum and GMs longer.

This isn’t a scenario where you will see immediate sweeping change.

Also, there’s only 32 owners. Why don’t they just hold themselves accountable for giving real opportunities to everyone qualified?

The part the NFL could play is to have post career clinics/classes for players. Coaching, leadership, public speaking, coaching, etc... Better help players move into life after the nfl.

It will be easy to exploit. If my team is in rebuild mode and I have a young coach, you fire him at the end of the season and hire any black coach you can. If you can jump up from say the 7th pick to the 3rd pick, it would be worth it. It also penalizes successful teams that have little turnover. Probably the stupidest SJW rule I have ever heard of

It’s just nonsense. So because you hired a black coach you get to jump ahead of other teams? How is that even close to fair. If the implemented this same rule but said if you hire a white coach they would be forced to shut down.

If this is the way the nfl is headed I am done. My interest has already been dropping because of the bullshite rules, refs, and bias against the saints. I’ve already been enjoying other sports much more than football as of late, like horse racing and MMA.

I m black and this is racist. So lay off white coaches to hire black. Let the best qualified coach get the job.

Welcome to the NFL of 2020. It must make the old timers sick when they hear news like this. The league has changed and most would say not for the better.

This is what I responded to.

He terms not being white as the “incorrect” ethnic group.

There is NO correct ethnic group.

You what you are racially. No race is “incorrect”.

But if you want to put it that way, i.e. say its “correct” to not be a minority, no its not equal, obviously, re: employment etc. which is why affirmative action type stuff ever even came into existence.

And Im responding to the horrible comments on here. Im not saying I support the rule. I just hate racism or folks saying racist shite cluelessly, not even knowing how racist it sounds.

I'd fire Payton, hire a black coach to move up on the draft, then I'd fire him and rehire Payton after the draft.

What team is going to choose a coach to move up 10 spots in the third round? Essentially a late fourth or early fifth round value. Regardless of how you feel about the issue it would have to be a lot more to have any effect.

To simply put it, if you are going to allow this then you have to require a fair racial distribution for players on the teams and for playing time. Might as wel foi it at every position.

12.5% of population is black? So only can have 4 black QBs in the nfl. Woops we are already over that (Murray, Wilson, Jackson, Taylor, Watson, Mahoney, Prescott, Brissett). That’s not even counting Winston and Newton.

Guess you have to cut or Bench 4 of them.

Now coaches? Lynn, Flores, Tomlin. Hire one more and you’ll be at proportional to the population.

Again, whites make up 61% of the population, yet only make up less than 30% of the players. Less than half their population representation. African Americans make up nearly 70% for a whopping 5-6 times over representation.

If you want fairness, there you go. Cut 80-85% of black players and replace them with Hispanic, white and Asian players to represent their population percentage.

See how much those players are keen to that.

"21st century. At the start of the 2014 season, NFL surveys revealed that the league was approximately 68% African-American and about 28% white, with the remaining 4% comprising Asian/Pacific Islander, non-white Hispanics, and those preferring a Mixed Race category."

"As of July 2016, White Americans are the racial majority. African Americans are the largest racial minority, comprising an estimated 12.7% of the population. Hispanic and Latino Americans are the largest ethnic minority, comprising an estimated 17.8% of the population.[8] The White, non-Hispanic or Latino population make up 61.3% of the nation's total, with the total White population (including White Hispanics and Latinos) being 76.9%."

Sure, as soon as the league rewards teams for drafting white players.

In fairness I do not support this proposal at all. Coaches should be given jobs by merit and worthiness of said job. I think the issue that they are trying to confront is why is the league majority black but black coaches are not being hired. Example...why is a Head Coach like Adam Gase still a head coach today. He goes to Miami stinks up the joint and boom just like that gets another head coaching job and doing the same thing. I am sure there or other examples out there as well...

Dumbest thing I’ve ever heard and insulting to minority candidates.

Now they’re a token to a better draft pick.

This is embarrassing.

A black QB coach is worth more because QB coaches become HCs more often.
