Anyone with an inkling of a clue knows they're going to extend him.

This game is textbook reason why we have to keep him.

There is obviously talent. Just some holes.

Extend Drew, make some room. Draft a WR and DT. Sign a guard. Get our injured guys like Lewis and Williams back.

Our young defenders have another year under their belt. A good offseason. We can come back strong next year. If Brees is even close to this level, the running game is close to where Ingram had it, and the defense can improve to serviceable? We're contending for the playoffs.

I just can't get behind the "blow it up" crowd.

They need to do something to get his cap # down. Outside of that i dont see why he cant give another 3 years of solid play with the right pieces around him.

He is not the problem for why we are struggling.

Can players refuse an extension? The money next year y'all owe him is what was promised and just kept getting pushed back. If the extension was like another 2 years for a total of 50 million (now 3 year contract), wouldn't it be kind of like he is agreeing to just play an extra 2 years for only 20 million more than he is already promised? He could make more elsewhere.

Not trolling, it's a legitimate question I have wondered. My apologies if it's a dumb question.

He isn't actually making 30 million next year. 10 of the 30 cap hit is from an already-paid signing bonus. 20 is his actual salary.

That's all we had to do LAST year.
That's all we had to do THIS year.
That's all we have to do NEXT year.
Sadly, we never do it.

Question -
What is the record of the Saint since Brees signed that contract?
Have we been able to shore up gashing holes in this team via free agency?
Agreed, Drew is the best Saint ever. One player, HOWEVER, does not make a TEAM!
This team will never be anything until we have a formidable Offensive Line again. Just a decent QB works with a solid OL.
You'll never have a D until we can get quality guys that we can pay.

Sorry Drew huggers but if you know football you know what I'm saying.

Did any of those teams have sub-par or even average OL's?

Didn't think so

Well he was a 1st rounder and as a rookie led the ravens to two playoff wins.
If thats just a ok QB then count me in to get one of those.

He needs to take a pay cut to help the team.

Billy Joe Tolliver could have done that behind the Ravens OL.

You just asked if a player can refuse a contract. It's a dumb question, of course he can
