Once he leaves his sorry arse up outta here, then we will have to completely revamp this defense...which means we will also need to retool this defense.

Because they have all of these DB's and no pass rushers that create pressure on opposing QB's--the Saints will need to attain several new players under a new def coord.

How many years will that take?

The Saints putting all their eggs in Williams' basket when they had an offense to rival any other is just painful to think about.

We lost to an inferior team yesterday and it's quite possible that either NY or SF, both of which are inferior to the Saints, may be playing in the Super Bowl.

All because of Gregg Williams and his stupidity.

We had the 24th or 25th ranked D.

I think we should

Normally it wouldn't be. But it will take time to get the players needed to run whatever system the new Def coord puts in. These DB's were brought in to play man coverage and the D Linemen do not get penetration into the backfield.

How long will it take to draft players to fit the new mold?

How much longer does Drew have?

The shite that happened yesterday is sickening.
The Saints organization and fans are stuck the steaming pile of shite Williams left in the driveway. While he just moves on to make millions somewhere else with his smoke and mirrors bullshite.

If the new coordinator can at least put the players we have in position to succeed they we will be better off anyways.

The best part of him going to the Rams is that we get to school his arse twice a season in his shitty schemes.

It took Williams one year put together a D good enough to win a Superbowl so I'm not too worried.

Right

Too bad we don't have much ammo to build in the draft this year though

No first rounder, but we have picks 2-7, plus two extra ones for the Jamaal Brown and Reggie Bush trades.

We did a pretty good transition going from Gibbs non blitzing scheme to GW blitzing scheme in the first yr.

It's not as difficult as you're making it, if we get the right DC.
It would be hard to be any worse than we've been the past two years.

I know GW had a questionable fourth quarter. However, the man was the missing piece that this team needed to get over the hump. The two seasons prior to GW's arrival the Saints did not even make the playoffs, due to the defense. Since his arrival they have not missed the playoffs, including winning SBXLIV. One thing I noticed about this team the past two years, is the amount of interception opportunities that were wasted. It seems like the coach's have been coaching the secondary to dislodge the ball from the receiver no matter what. Due to that mentality it seems that the secondary was constantly positioning itself for the knock-out blow on the receiver when the ball was tipped. Much like PRob's drop yesterday, he was surprised that the ball was tipped as he had already committed to delivering the hit on the receiver and could not make the adjustment in time to catch the ball.

Regardless of the new coordinator he won't completely overhaul the defense the first year. It will be a more gradual transition since we are already a title contending team.

How'd that work out for Houston this year? Pretty damn well. It excites me they will have to revamp the whole thing.
