What if his stock continues to rise as it has been and by the time draft day comes... it'd be doubtful he's there.

It's silly to get too caught up with "Well he's a bad pick at 14 but a good pick at 22".... If the team is high on the player, they shouldn't hesitate to just draft the fricker. This trading down ordeal is not always very likely.

I agree with this. In fact, I live in Houston and there's a pretty strong feeling around here that the Texans will take him at 15 if he's still on the board. I would say right now that Mathews has a better chance than anybody else of being drafted at 14 by the Saints.

Why pick him at 14 if you think he will last until 25 or so?

EVERYONE had Jared Mayo lasting until the end of the 1st round last year. The Patriots took him with the 10th pick and were accused of reaching for him. He only turned out to be the Defensive Rookie of the Year.

your distortion of reality is pretty amazing

If you want to say this far out from the draft, maybe, but everyone had Mayo going right around where he did by the time the draft came around. Fail

Mathews would be a god pick if we trade down. Cross your fingers that Sanchez and a bigtime WR are still available when we select. THis will make trading down so much easier. ALso hope the Detroit doesn't draft a qb at #1.

Btw- New England had the luxury of taking the best available player at #10 and for them Mayo was a no brainer. Anyone else at #10 maybe not.

If we are going to reach for someone I would rather reach for Louis Delmas or Sean Smith if we are assuming that we are unable to trade down. I know they are probably eary second round picks, but I would rather draft the right player with the wrong pick than draft the wrong player with the right pick. The last thing we need is to pick up someone just because he is suppose to be drafted at a certain pick.

unless they leave picks on the table by sticking by their board. You are too confused to understand that. Why would you pick someone at 14 that you know would still be there at say 25 if you can move to 24 and get a 3rd rounder?

So you are magically making up a draft day deal and magically assuming that this player will be their 10 plus picks later when it will surprise the shite out of me if he's there with the 25th pick.

Did you pick up the fat bitches in Mandeville at 10pm or wait until all the fine bitches left at 2am?

I pick up the fat bitches right after you are done picking up all the little boys.

The Patriots pick wasn't a luxury... it was "we feel this is the best player so we're going to pick him and frick all the people who 'think' differently" and they turned out to be right. Same thing with Logan Mankins and probably several other of their picks.
