Total head scratcher here from NE.
They get a comp 3rd for an all pro lb.
For those that say, "they didn't want to give him a Von Miller deal", they could have let him walk in FA and still get a 3rd compensatory pick.
So basically, if Cleveland doesn't resign him, they'll get that comp pick when he gets a monster deal.
NE just gave away an excellent player for a swap of 3rd round comp picks basically.

but they get the comp pick this upcoming year as opposed to the following year. They are playing against time too
