This board has really surprised me. Very few people have been listening to training camp and reading updates. The only receiver that has looked better than Coleman is Cooks. Coleman will not only make the roster, Payton has talked about him getting 30-40 catches this year

Ojo never actually did anything in practice, fans just wanted/expected him to.

This. I can't believe people have such a hard time understanding this. Andy Tanner too. Both were underdogs so they became fan favorites yet they never were talked about as potential starters by the media or the coaching staff themselves.
This situation with Coleman is totally different & is more similar to Colston's sudden rise up the depth chart than any other past situation at WR.

Ojo had plenty of hype. There wasn't the type of coverage there is now, but there was plenty of good news reported on him.
And he was competing for one open spot because we already had 4 WRs on the roster who had spots. (Joe Horn, Willie Jackson, Michael Lewis and Albert Connell) The Saints placed him in NFL Europe to try to develop him.

One man's ranking of the Saints' best training camp sensations:
1. WR Onome Ojo (2001)
2. QB Adrian McPherson (2005)
3. KR Rod Harper (2009)
4. RB James Fenderson (2003)
5. RB Jamaal Branch (2006)

Old forum. May even be a chat room. For you youngins, that's what the internet was before, well, the internet. Says Ojo is looking good, says he's having some rough spots. Says he is on the team for sure. Says he is on the bubble.

I spent plenty of time looking at rookie free agent signee Edward "Boo" Williams. The former Arkansas wide receiver, who is now being worked in at tight end, showed excellent athletic ability and receiving skills. The same can be said for fifth-round pick wide receiver Ojo from California-Davis.
Similar to what we are hearing on Coleman. Don't get me wrong, I'm rooting for the guy. Look through my post history and I was asking where he was last year. That being said, I don't swing to the other extreme and take him being a WR for the Saints as a sure thing. If you would have said three months ago that Kenny Stills would not have been on the team, I would have called you stupid.

i'd like to see him play Thursday but hasn't he missed the last few practices?

I'm on the Coleman pain train. 500+ yards and 5+ tds.

...one or even two of those young guys could very well make the roster, but I think the top 4 will be:
Cooks
Colston
Toon
Morgan
...maybe Morgan doesn't make it, but I'm thinking he will. Payton has said a lot of positive things about him in his pressers as well...which means everything apparently.
So two spots max for Jones (coming on strong), Coleman, Snead (lots of buzz), Josh Morgan, and Saunders.
...i hope he's a beast, just not expecting him to be day 1 WR3 because of strong reviews after the first week of camp.

Considering I haven't taken a position on Coleman other than the fact that everyone is hyping him, I'm pretty confident. He has a good chance of making the team because it's a position of need. I hope that he lives up to his potential because he's got size you can't teach. That being said, I'm tempering my expectations considering he was a practice squad guy last year. If he was all world, he would have been called up last year instead of other guys. Let's just wait and see.

I like Joe Morgan though. Sure, he hasn't been a catch machine but he's been a solid contributor here and there which is more than we can say for Nick Toon.
since we're just guessing, I could see any of the new blood you mentioned over taking Toon.
I remember being frustrated with Meachem at first and then in Year 2 he maxed out. I know its not fair to expect the same thing with Toon but it just seems like he would have made his move by now.
I mean if the light all of sudden comes on for Toon in Year 4, great. But with only 21 career catches to date, I'm a skeptic.

Morgan fits in the Devery role...good blocker on the outside in run formation who you can take a play action shot with.
...Payton has talked about Morgan's willingness to block every time he's been asked about him.
And Payton likes the guy/wants him to succeed/make the team, imo...or he wouldn't have brought him back. He also said they have a lot invested in Morgan.
...I don't love Toon. It just has seems like he's one of Payton's guys...doubt he gets cut

Exactly. I remember a few years ago he was knocking some Eagles DB around on Monday Night Football (2012). He's an underrated blocker but he is a smaller guy... so he's got some deception to his game I guess.
Joe Morgan is in the rotation I would think. Just hope he gets his off the field stuff in control.

I hear you there. But if somebody starts to emerge and show signs of progress only to be held back on snaps b/c the Saints trying are trying to play the loyalty card to Toon... that would suck.
