I guess the more important question is how many linebackers do we keep.

Klein - lock
Te'o - assumed lock (and followed Nolan to NO)
Robertson - lock
Anzalone - lock
Stupar- lock and special teams
Bighill - don't sleep on this cat
Anthony - pulling for him, but....

Anthony better get on the field and show me something or if I was calling the shots I'd keep Bighill over him right now.

All I have to say is wow, what a difference Nolan is making already. The linebacker group went from meh prior to the preseason to actually looking well coached and disciplined now. I'm so ready for the next game to see if this stays true, but as of right now I am very encouraged.

This seems to be what CSP is avoiding these days. He wants leaders on the field, not just athletes.

It's becoming more and more apparent Anthony does not have a spot on this football team

Then trade him, get something, he does have value. He's an athletic LB as I said, but does have issues with the mental part of the game and so it takes away from his athletic ability.

Klein and Teo

Then I think Anzalone overtakes Robertson by mid season. He's supposedly looked really good out there

Teams like Carolina, Minnesota, and Tampa bay could turn him into a contributor. They have 2 linebackers who can absorb the mental part and put him where he needs to be to make a play.

I hated that we passed on Kendricks, I thought he was going to be the best of that draft

So, y'all think he's a shite player now and that the Saints should just outright cut him, I don't agree. Listen, Anthony may have regressed, but once again he's a athletic LB with great size that can run and make plays when he is not thinking and just playing football as he showed in his first season with the Saints. Some team out there will find the value in him and offer a pick I think, I just don't see them cutting him like that.

i mean reports are he cannot diagnose a running play from a passing play. I dont care how physically gifted he is. That is basic LB'ing 101

Where are you getting these reports? Last year? He has an undisclosed injury. I dont know if he will make the team but he looked good last week vs the Browns. I dont see why after 1 preseason game they gave up on him. I saw one play vs the Browns where he let a RB get open in the flats. There was no right answer on that. If he goes cover the RB the QB was going to take off up the field for a first down. The QB was looking to run in that direction until he saw Anthony in the gap. He was forced to throw it to the open RB.

"Some of the things that are hurting this player: He's explosive, he's disruptive and yet his key in diagnose and his instincts at times are off," Payton said on a teleconference Wednesday morning. "You know, it's run, and he's dropping back in a pass mode, or it's pass and he's at the line of scrimmage. So, his ability to see and diagnose some very simple reads, for instance, are the keys for him to getting better, and I think he was able to do a little bit more of that the other night.

"But, that's been the thing that's kept him back, and quite honestly it's kept him back on special teams because a player like him who's on special teams, if he's covering a kick or covering a punt, generally a guy that can run and hit shows up. And he's been, I would say, just OK in that area."

Sean Payton in Dec 16'. Those aren't the type of things that an injury hinders. It's likely happening at practice too, and Im pretty sure he has seen enough of him to know whether it is because of injury or not.

He had a sack off a blitz that any LB on the team would have made. That was a play made by the scheme, not the player.

Those reports last year dont mean shite. Mike Nolan will decide if he makes the roster.

and Mike Nolan has no connection to him. Guy cant read plays on defense nor does he play special teams well. We have too many bodies that can do both that makes Anthony expendable.

We have Klein, Teo, Anzalone, and Robertson. Bighill, Stupar, and Mauti are ST players that might not have the athleticism to be a full time starter if one of the above go down. That leaves Anthony. I would say this week he will have to prove himself. If he doesnt practice this week, then chances are he is gone but Im not ready to write off a first rd pick. Jeff ireland was brought in the same year to scout Anthony and we picked him.

Payton doesnt know shite about defense. The past few years prove that. Mike Nolan should have the last word, not Sean Payton. I would hate to see us cut a 1st rd pick after 2 years.

This.

And I see Klein and Robertson as the primary nickel LB's.

Y'all got to it on this page, but at this point I can't see any way Anthony makes the team. And he would have absolutely zero trade value. It sucks, but deuces.

I think the best we can get from Anthony is a conditional 7th rounder.

I thought Anthony was a lock to make the roster at first, but I'm not sure at this point. Klein, Robertson, Te'o, Anzalone, & Stupar are all locks. Mauti & Bighill can both be used on special teams. Anthony better get on the field this week, b/c time is running out.

Agreed, especially if he cant even get on the field to put anything on film.
