Guaranteed money is what really matters, Ingram got 10

This is accurate.

Is it? Pretty sure Ingram got $7.6 Mil guaranteed.

he's so much more than PT. Remember Spiller was drafted very high as the next great thing (kind of like some guy whose name could also mean Vagina that was drafted by a Faith Based team?). In 2012 he was phenomenal. '13 he was playing through injury a lot and then last year happened. What we do know is that he could be a superstar in this league, but his body may never let him achieve such status. If he can stay healthy, he may be our next star

Different players. Sproles is explosive , where PT has the balance and grinds for the first down. He isn't really a matchup nightmare speed wise

Oh absolutely. Don't get me wrong I think Spiller is more dangerous compared to PT with a much higher ceiling and also should contribute on ST, but value/production wise I like what PT gave us especially for only 1.5. Although that was also back when we were in cap trouble, which I guess isn't an issue anymore after everything

Seeing what reggie bush goes for will be interesting

if we get "Clemson Spiller" than look out. As another poster said, he was electrifying. I thought the same when I first saw Sproles in college. Ingram's job will be to get 1st downs on 3rd and short. Spiller's job will be to unbalance the defense and make big plays.

There will matchup issues when both Spiller and Cooks are on the field at the same time, but SP is going to have to draw up some interesting plays.

If Spiller can stay healthy, this is a good deal. If not,

Dude averaged 6 ypc in 2012.....6. He's a game changer when he's healthy. IDK how someone couldn't be excited about the signing.

that's a limited viewpoint. Ingram will be a 15-20 carry/game grinder who will be setting us up in 2nd and 4 scenarios. He will control and dominate games as long as he has a good OL clearing a path. You don't pay 16mill to a 1yrd on 3rd down runner

Agreed, but if he goes for 1/4-1/2 the price then it's a different story..

Are we still in cap hell? With everything that's gone down from what I gather we are pretty much even right now for this year but going forward are way under?

The best QB Spiller has ever played for is R. Fitzpatrick. Let that sink in for a moment. He should add a lot of value with Brees and SP.

CJ played in Buffalo.. Now in NO and indoor stadium. I think he will be nasty if if can stay healthy. He is a more dynamic PT and a bigger version of DS from a few years back. A combo of the two.

But not by much. And he probably won't finish out his contract

this is a misused term. the cap is a bit more fluid than what reporters make it out to be. contracts are continually manipulated to clear whatever cap room is needed.

what we have done is trim fat for future years' caps. this year moves can still be made to create whatever we need. basically, the cap isn't really an issue right now

It's not cap hell if you have a nearly complete roster and you are just under the cap limit. In 2016 and 2017 we are in much better shape.

Not this season. Still some moves to be made to free up money for 2015
Now in 2016 we are looking extremely good. We will have money to re-sign guys like Jordan.

Ever noticed that the teams in cap heaven are basically always the worst teams?

That's because they have the stingiest owners. The 49ers made the push with Harbaugh in order to get a new stadium. Now that they have their new stadium, it's back to stinginess and mediocrity.
