So slow to make in-season line-up changes

First of all, thank freaking god that that POS Browner is gone. Most disliked player by me since the Haslett era.
Anyway, why is the staff so slow to make in-season lineup changes when it's clear as day that a change should be made. The release of Browner magnifies how idiotic it was they kept trotting his stiff arse out there again and again.
Same thing with Charles Brown - why wait until two weeks to go to start Armstead. Maybe he needed more time, but damn.
We saw it with Jason David as well and then with Jonathan Goodwin last year. Goodwin was freaking awful. He had no future with the team and we excelled when he was out yet the kept Lelito and Kelemete on the bench? WHY????
This is not a new phenomenon. It's like the staff is terrified of pissing off over the hill terrible vets. Jahri and Strief come to mind as the next candidates to continue playing despite ineffectiveness.
Shanle was another guy. Now granted, we probably didn't have anyone better in that case.
It's like Kicker is the one position we have a quick trigger. Anyway, it's weird but I'm thrilled Browner is gone. Dude totally sucked.

P.J was injured
Swann had concussions
Keenan injured as well
That's the main reasons

We were already trotting out street guys this year after injuries piled up in our secondary. Our top 3 guys were Dixon, Wilson, and browner at multiple points this season.
Evans is still better than kelemete and lelito if you didn't notice. Not saying much other than we need to get better.
Because sometimes even the bad (brown) had a few good peaks and the very raw and unknown (armstead) could have been a lot worse.

They reduced his role when they could, but as injuries piled up, they really didn't have a choice. They had to put someone out there.

Because Charles Brown would be great sometimes and awful others. We also started the season 10-3 before the St. Louis shitshow that got him benched
He usually played well at home

Yeah and also Breaux had to come out during many games due to injuries.

Wait. What year is it?

I agree with the poster in general. Too often for my liking I find myself asking why in games- when methinks replacing an under performer with an unproven player couldn't be worse.
Did Ingram really need THAT much time before making him the go-to back? -for example

Yea, and I certainly agree with him about Goodwin

I think they just didn't have anyone to replace him with. Everyone jokes that some stiff off the street would have been better, but it's not that simple in the heat of a season.

Because we the fans see these players for about 3 hours on a Sunday.
The coaches, staff, team captains, medical staff, the GM and FO all practically live with these guys almost year round.
So their perspective is a little different than ours.

But the coaches all of a sudden agree with the fans as soon as the season ends?

No longer worried about injuries/depth issues? I don't understand the delay for some of these guys, or at the very least if you HAVE to put them on the field put them in a different place. There is no question that Browner was a liability to the defense, but what made it worse was they kept putting him on the outside guys where he routinely would get beat. Why not slide him in the slot when we were in nickel/dime? It's where he played in NE, so it's not a major transition like a lot of the guys suggesting he should have moved to LBer.
Another head scratcher would be when he had to line up against the faster guys and wasn't allowed to play bump & run, like Ginn. That is just setting him up to fail.

All correct I think but the "sudden" part

He rarely played the nickel in NE. Kyle Arrington was considered the nickelback.

Thanks for the update, Bill.

interested in more from Jcorye1. Didja see enough of him with the Saints to tell why he was so ineffective- compared to NE?
