Agreed. While Goodwin is obviously familiar with our system, I'm sure there are new wrinkles in the playbook, new protection calls, etc. And 3 out of the 4 starting OL, besides Center, either weren't on the team (Armstead, Grubbs) , or weren't starting when he was here (Streif). If the plan was to sign him all along, then I'm glad they did it now instead of waiting until Training Camp.

I was thinking so too(was expecting it after rookie minicamp) but I forgot the angle of keeping SF from getting a comp pick.
Also, I forgot we also lost Brown so we lost 3 UFAs that count towards comp picks(Jenkins and DLP being the others).
Not sure if Golic Jr., Foketi, Weaver, Welch, or Ozougwu count as I don't know if they were cuts/RFAs that didn't get offers or if they were UFAs.
Ball came from the CFL so I don't know how that counts. Bailey was cut so he doesn't count against us.
Byrd and Lorig do. Forgot about Brown getting picked up by NY though.

I see what you're saying, but I just can't see the Saints taking that into consideration in this situation.

i thought it would have made sense to wait till july or till these next two ota sessions concluded but perhaps they wanted to be proactive. all teams only one "you know what" away from needing a serviceable center.
