If Freeney wants another title then he could make it work for any team.

But big money at the end of his career may speak louder Sid.

Freeney too expensive and we are hurting for picks as is, but SD just released Luis Castillo who would be a great addition IMO. LINK

He has no place in your defense

Plus i think Castillo has been a FA for a while. I know he had a visit with the Patriots during that first week or two of free agency so hes been on the market for a while

Don't those dudes usually dry up on their next teams? I don't think he's worth it. I'd rather go find a newbie than get Freeney dragging arse.

Castillo did visit the patriots but then the chargers resigned him, and now they cut him.

If the money is right and we dont have to give up much for him, I'm all for it. But i dont want to pay alot for him.

but if its for one year, whats the money issue? he gets his money, plays, then we can either get rid of him next year or renegotiate. really nothing to lose as far as I can see.

or we can just let extra cap space sit there.

We can use the money now to extend Graham or Bushrod early. Can't do that if we trade for Freeney.

You would still need another 6 mil to fit Freeney under your cap so its not that simple

Freeney's making 20 mil next year? Plus, like I said before, any team getting Freeney would probably restructure his deal.

I was under the impression the Saints had 8 million under the cap. Freeney is paid14

Spaces and periods are your friend bro.

Also if you dont lock up Graham soon, itll cost you either money or a holdout. Patriots got a bargain of a deal because they got it done 2 years before the deal was up. Saints might not get off so cheap either way but they should try and sign him up before he get any more leverage or decides to hold out

Signing an aging DE coming off of an injury is not more important than an extention to a core guy

i get the whole "extend graham" deal. but hes going to want a little more than gronk, no matter when he signs.

why not go balls out this year and sign freeney this year, use the cap and win a championship.

if freeney sucks, we get that money again next year and can still extend graham before his contract is up.

I can see both sides of the argument. Lots of valid points are being made. If we can get him for cheap, I say go for it.

I think youre overrating Freeney and what he would do in the Saints Defense

I agree, some. The thing is what do the Saints have at DE? Sure, we are all high on Martez Wilson being a good pass rusher, in fact, I think he will be an outstanding pass rusher. Jordan will be used a good bit as a defensive tackle this season. There's Galette, Will Smith, Mcbride... Why not bring him in if it's for cheap?

Let Bunkley and Jordan play the tackles, Ellis has to step up, and Hicks might be solid.. Set up Freeney, Smith, Galette, Wilson for a good DE rotation, with Tez used as the hybrid in some schemes.

Thats a big if. Plus, dont think the Colts are going to let him go for a conditional 6th rounder or some shite, theyre going to be asking for more and NFL GMs are stubborn, they dont take best offer available, they only take what they feel is a good deal

But i understand that hes worth the risk if hes at a lower cost but i have my doubts about that
