Charlie Campbell speculates the Colts could look to trade defensive end Dwight Freeney before the season and mentions the Saints and Falcons as possible landing spots. I think both teams could use pass-rush help. But I’d scratch the Falcons because they don’t have enough cap room to take on Freeney’s current deal or even a restructured contract. The Saints? Well, that could be a different story. As we reported earlier Wednesday, they suddenly have some cap room to work with.

eta: how much do they think they're going to get from trading a 32 year old

Makes $14m this year, so we'd have to clear up some space even if Vilma's suspension is upheld. Will probably be looking for another decent sized payday. Very good player still, but he's 32 and his play is already declining. Would hate to see him making ~$8m/yr in 2014/2015. I'd consider a 7th/conditional 6th rounder for a one year rental, though. I'd still rather use the freed up money to extend Graham or Bushrod, using as much of the space as possible this year.

He would give us a pass rush like Abraham gave the Falcons. We NEED a pass rusher and I would be all for trading away a pick (probably a 5-7) for his services. Will Smith has shown he cannot get it done consistently (and will miss a few games).

Please, Loomis, before you leave us, make it happen!!!!!

I would definitely want him on the team. My only concern is how quick he picks up the quirks of the Saints D. He's a pro, so I don't think it will take a significant amount of time.
