What has happened to this guy? I haven't seen him get any penetration this game. Also saw him miss a tackle. Am I missing something b/c he has looked terrible thus far.

I legit saw him on the ground 5 yards off the ball several times

I tried to tell y'all when he was drafted that he was overrated. He had a good senior game practice performance and that was it. His Louisville tape was garbage.

Im not one to say something I regret over one game, but I wasnt overly excited about this pick last year when it happened. Just seems like a painfully avg DT that will get 6 sacks a year and not effect the run game much.

What happened? He got drafted by the cancerous Saints defense.

Which is also full of draft misses. Saints just can't scout defensive talent

Except Jordan. Somehow we got it right on him.

They werent all destined to suck but a defender getting drafted here is like watching the tape from The Ring.

He was good rotational with fairley, but not without

Been a bust. But this board won't admit it. Garbage

ETA: i like to believe they actually intended to draft Sheldon day but got him confused with Rankins because I don't see how anyone saw something in rankins

He's as good as Jonathan Sullivan

We always get 1 good defensive end. Joe Johnson lead to Charles Grant who lead to Will Smith who lead to Cam. Our next good DE is probably college freshman.

Will be a bust just like all our other 1's

He would be a better defensive end. I said this before the draft and many still wanted him. He wasn't productive at Louisville and his highlight reel consisted of one game against a mediocre team. Hope y'all enjoy him until his contract is up. When he is shown the door please have him take Peat with him. I can't believe they still issue a jersey to either one of them.

neither did anyone else from up the middle.
Cam Jordan did one play when he lined up over the center (early in the game).
The Saints got some pressure (not much) off the edge but Brady was able to step up every time except the time Kikaha sacked him I think.
not making an excuse for Rankins at all though. Wish Fairley could have played this year.

So lets see Rankins next to a Veteran Fairley and Rankins is good, without he is average.
I'm guessing it is because Fairley was getting the double team allowing Rankins to go one on one with a guard. You remove Fairley from the mix and Rankins get the double team all day long.
Some guys will not have great stats but it is their job to take on the double team and eat space for the other players.

I've not seen him make any plays, but FWIW PFF gave him a good grade for today.
